Glyphs, also known as Elemental Glyphs or Glyph Spells, were a set of environmentally sensitive spells that could be optionally gained and used by Raziel in Soul Reaver 1. Raziel began the game with a single glyph, the Shift Glyph, which allowed him to Shift into the Material Realm while standing upon a planar portal. Throughout his travels in Nosgoth, Raziel could uncover six elementally attuned altars - each altar contained a puzzle which would gift Raziel with a new Glyph spell when completed. Once he gained his first Glyph, Raziel acquired the Eldritch energy to power them.
Force Glyph: The Force Glyph could be used for Raziel to perform a telekinetic shockwave that throws enemies into hazards and potentially kill them. The projectile itself, however, caused only minor damage.
Stone Glyph: The Stone Glyph requires Raziel to point his palms downwards, and beams of light would emerge, shaking the ground violently. This caused an earthquake, stunning any nearby standing enemies. Enemies would appear petrified, and Raziel would need to strike them with the Wraith Blade, as no other weapon could do this. However, being stunned was only temporary; enemies would regain their senses swiftly afterwards.
Sound Glyph: The Sound Glyph requires Raziel to slam his hands together and an ultrasonic wave would stun all nearby vampires. This Glyph merely stunned vampires. Humans remained unaffected.
Water Glyph: Using the Water Glyph. Raziel creates two water balls in each hand while raising them above his head which creates a wave of water, engulfing all nearby enemy vampires. This Glyph couldn´t be used against any Rahabim vampires or humans.
Fire Glyph: Using the Fire Glyph, Raziel forms two small fire orbs in each hand while raising them above his head, and a giant fiery wave is sent around him, incinerating any enemies close by.
Sunlight Glyph: Using the Sunlight Glyph, Raziel raises his hands in the air with light coming from them and brings them together for a burst of sunlight, killing any vampires, although it does not do any damage to humans.
