EMIYA (Part 1)
So, EMIYA?
Here, EMIYA Fate/Stay Night VN Status Screens
Here, EMIYA's eyesight is good enough to see as far away as the Bridge from atop the tallest building in the city, his visual acuity is good enough to count the tiles.
Here, Eye of Mind (True) exposition
Here, EMIYA and Rin sense Medusa's Blood Fort Bounded Field being set up on school ground
Magecraft?
Here, EMIYA's structural grasp is good enough where he has a blueprint of the Matou house to work with in his head and point out the spots in it that are otherwise empty spaces
Here, Shirou/EMIYA projection limitation exposition.
Unlimited Blade Works
Here, EMIYA deploys Unlimited Blade Works despite apparently running on fumes
Here, a description of Unlimited Blade Works. Here, Reality Marble description. Here, Unlimited Blade Works lets EMIYA reproduce and store any weapon he sees the original version of. Here, EMIYA's ability to create Unlimited Blade Works costs magical energy several times Shirou's natural magical energy capacity.
vs Gilgamesh (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5)
Here, Gilgamesh's power comes from the number of Noble Phantasm he has stored in the Gate of Babylon. Here, Rin surmises Gilgamesh sees EMIYA and Shirou as threats, that EMIYA would be a match for Gilgamesh's Gate of Babylon.
Rho Aias
vs Ea (7 petals, EMIYA)
Here, as Gilgamesh's last 3 Noble Phantasm are still in transit, he pulls out Ea, Shirou can't read it with Structural Grasp. Here, Gilgamesh uses Ea on Shirou, Shirou tries to defend by releasing all the magical energy he had ready to use for projection. Here, Shirou uses that energy to project his strongest available projected weapon, this doesn't act as a shield, Ea destroys Gilgamesh's 3 Noble Phantasm, Shirou's 3 copies, and impacts Shirou. Here, Gilgamesh is confused how Shirou survived Ea (he intended to kill him with it even when reluctant to use it), he guesses maybe Shirou projected a shield (EMIYA did, Rho Aias, per Nasu).
vs Excalibur (?, 7 petals, EMIYA)
Here, were Artoria to counter with Excalibur, not only would Shirou need to worry about destroying the Center Building, but also the buildings surrounding it. Here, Shirou believes that EMIYA has a defense he could employ to defend against Excalibur were they to use it.
vs Excalibur Morgan (4 petals, Shirou Emiya w/EMIYA's Arm)
Here, Excalibur Morgan vs Bellerophon begins. Here, the two attacks collide, beginning contention for supremacy. Here, Shirou's perception of time slows to a crawl, he compares it to stopped time/an instant as eternity. Here, without support from Shirou's Rho Aias, Medusa's Bellerophon has no chance of winning over Excalibur Morgan. Here, Shirou projects 4 petaled Rho Aias. Here, Excalibur Morgan and Bellerophon are still competing. If Shirou were to stop projecting Rho Aias now, Bellerophon would lose and Medusa would be vaporized in an instant. Here, with each petal of Rho Aias that Excalibur Morgan breaks, the balance between Excalibur Morgan and Bellerophon shifts as Excalibur Morgan has to expend energy to break the petals. Upon the last petal breaking Bellerophon overcomes Excalibur Morgan. Here, Rho Aias and Bellerophon barely had the edge of Excalibur Morgan, Excalibur Morgan had offset about 90% of Bellerophon's light/power (here, for breakdown of minimum amount of power Rho Aias had to endure from Excalibur Morgan).
vs Gate of Babylon (7 petals, Shirou Emiya UBW)
Here, Gilgamesh fires his Noble Phantasms, Shirou pulls the 7 petaled Rho Aias from UBW to defend himself against them. Here, Shirou's 7 petaled Rho Aias defends against Gilgamesh's attack, though they do manage to pierce the petals somewhat with each impact. Here, Shirou can't tell if the vast magical energy he's channeling or the fact Gate of Babylon's attacks aren't penetrating Rho Aias is what surprises Gilgamesh. Here, seems Gil's shock is about the fact Rho Aias is so durable.
vs Hrunting (4 petals, Shirou Emiya Hollow/Ataraxia)
Here, one second after using his command spell, Shirou projects 4 Petaled Rho Aias to defend against Hrunting. Here, EMIYA describes how he perceived Shirou's efforts at defending against Hrunting. Here, EMIYA could still win, Shirou's Rho Aias was broken and Hrunting still remains in flight and able to return to strike Shirou. Here, Shirou used up all his magical energy countering EMIYA's Hrunting.
vs Thrown Gae Bolg (7 petals, EMIYA)
Here, Gae Bolg's power distorts space as Cu readies to throw it. Here, Cu throws Gae Bolg at EMIYA. Here, Exposition on Gae Bolg's function as the thrown spear. Here, Cu throws Gae Bolg by using all his magical energy. Here, Gae Bolg vs Rho Aias starts. Here, Rho Aias exposition. Here, thrown Gae Bolg easily pierces through 6 of Rho Aias' layers. Here, EMIYA puts his "all his magical energy" into Rho Aias' last layer. Here, EMIYA has wounds all over his body from the clash. Here, Rho Aias was entirely pierced, EMIYA muses Cu's thrown Gae Bolg surpasses the original Gungir. Here, Cu's pissed off Rho Aias was able to block his strongest attack. Here, EMIYA notes accomplishing this feat cost him most of his magical energy, destroyed one of his arms, and Rho Aias was still shattered.
Excalibur Image
Here, EMIYA threatens to reproduce a close approximation to Artoria's Excalibur (he can't do so exactly, but he can get close enough). Here, EMIYA asserts he would die if he were to reproduce Excalibur, but he would if he had to in order to oppose Artoria's own usage.
Sword Arrows
vs Artoria Pendragon Alter
Here, Artoria Alter swings her sword to attack Shirou, she's forced to instead parry 3 arrows shot by EMIYA.
vs Gilgamesh (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5)
Here, EMIYA shoots an arrow at Gilgamesh, it punctures Gilgamesh's skull right between his eyes.
vs Herakles
Here, Herakles tanks 8 arrows from EMIYA suggested to be able to mow down houses. Here, an arrow from EMIYA with the power of a tankshell hits Herakles temple. Here, Herakles tanks 3 more of EMIYA's arrows to the forehead. Here, Herakles charges Artoria, both EMIYA's arrows and Rin's obsidian jewel magic attack fail to stop his charge or damage him through God Hand.
vs Medea
Here, EMIYA fires 13 sword arrows at Medea, Medea is able to avoid them all (had there been 14, Medea would have been hit). Here, EMIYA severed Medea's binding string with his rain of arrows.
vs Cursed Arm Hassan
Here, EMIYA and Hassan's attacks are matched, EMIYA even shoots down all of Hassan's dirks (not that this is due to Hassan's weakness).
vs Holy Grail Mountain of Meat
Here, a description of Shinji's meat island in the lake and the black mud it spews. Here, more description of the Grail Mud. Here, Shinji's meat island is 30 meters away, the lake is shallow enough to walk through. Here, if the Grail explodes, the gate to the Grail Mud will fully open and will end up pouring out "infinitely" beyond the finite amount already in the lake and composing the meat island. Here, the mountain of meat/Holy Grail is composed of the same matter as the Grail Mud in the lake, which is similar to Servants. Here, the mountain of meat is about 50 meters wide. Here, the Grail Mud has not only filled the lake, but is spilling onto the land as well and the Counter Force will activate if they leave the mountain of meat alone.
Here, EMIYA fires at the mountain of meat with his sword arrows to help Rin escape from it with Shinji, they take out the tentacles and the ground around her to open the path. Here, EMIYA's arrows helped sweep away the Grail Mud directly in Rin's way.
Sword Bullet Full Open
vs Medea
Here, EMIYA has numerous Noble Phantasm ready to fire at Kuzuki, Medea senses them over his head, Medea moves to protect Kuzuki. Here, Medea has been rendered too injured to use her magecraft to defend against EMIYA's assault on Kuzuki. Here, EMIYA fires at Medea and Kuzuki, Medea suffers fatal wounds, but her body is durable enough to prevent EMIYA's Noble Phantasms from ramming through her and harming Kuzuki. Here, EMIYA is left with no magical energy due to the number of Noble Phantasms he used to end Medea's life (on top of already being depleted from fighting Cu Chulainn).
vs Shirou Emiya (General, Fate, UBW, HF, HA)
Here, all the swords EMIYA has poised to hit Artoria with are fatal, EMIYA surmises her wounds won't be instantly fatal if she's lucky. Here, EMIYA fires his Noble Phantasm sword spam. Here, Shirou runs to Artoria and works to project 18 of his own copies of the Noble Phantasm EMIYA fired. Here, Shirou successfully projects and counters EMIYA's Noble Phantasm sword spam with his own, Unlimited Blade Works fades. Here, EMIYA retreats, citing his lack of magical energy means he can't take on both Artoria and Shirou and expect to win
Broken Phantasm?
Here, Broken Phantasm exposition (that's what EMIYA did to Herakles with Caladbolg II)
Caladbolg II
vs Artoria Pendragon Alter (Shirou Emiya w/EMIYA's Arm)
Here, Shirou's thoughts surpass "the speed of light" to begin projection. Shirou projects Caladbolg II. Shirou fires Caladbolg II at Artoria Alter. Artoria Alter is forced to repel Caladbolg II and Medusa is able to retreat from Artoria Alter.
vs Herakles
Here, EMIYA is on a rooftop 100s of meters away readying Caladbolg II for attack. Here, EMIYA releases Caladbolg II, Herakles senses the danger it poses and attacks the arrow with all his might to defend against it. Here, Caladbolg II razed the cemetary, Herakles is left standing in a crater where the impact occurred. Here, having acted to counter Caladbolg II, the remaining energy that detonated on impact leaves Herakles unharmed for his efforts despite Caladbolg II being an A Rank Noble Phantasm (basically, he's able to survive a large fraction of Caladbolg II's impact, but were he not to counter the attack would take a life or 2). Here, Artoria suggests Caladbolg II would have inflicted her with a fatal wound had Shirou not rushed into save her (this is corroborated by Bad End 15 here [only difference between this ending and the fight where Shirou is there is that Shirou runs to save Artoria here, he has no interaction with the fight before that moment]).
vs Medea
Here, EMIYA aims Caladbolg II at Medea, Medea hastily casts defensive magic, EMIYA fires Caladbolg II. Here, Caladbolg II distorts space as it travels, Caladbolg II easily penetrates Medea's defense. Even if she had tried to teleport, how Caladbolg II distorts space would have twisted her up anyway. Here, Medea uses all her magical energy to heal herself from the indirect hit she took from Caladbolg II. Both Medea and her protection were damaged by Caladbolg II's after-effects. Here, firing Caladbolg II leaves EMIYA with a weak magical energy. Here, Medea's left weak too as EMIYA's attack took away most of her body and magical energy.
Speed can be found here.
Hrunting
vs Artoria Pendragon (Shirou Emiya; Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5)
Here, EMIYA fires his third Hrunting, Artoria repels it. EMIYA's shots increase in power with each one he fires. Here, EMIYA fires his fifth and final Hrunting. Artoria is able to defend, but she is overpowered by the shot and knocked off her feet. Here, Shirou sees the sixth Hrunting being fired, Artoria believes she can at least endure being hit by it once, Shirou doesn't seem so sure.
Here, EMIYA fires his first Hrunting from 4 kilometers away, Shirou sees the shot and warns Artoria, Artoria repels it. Here, EMIYA charged the second shot for 20 seconds (so... he charges Caladbolg II with enough magical energy to leave him virtually depleted vs Medea basically in an instant, but he needs 20 seconds to achieve much less with Hrunting? Between this and Shirou needing a minute to project shit when he's projected what he needs while Herakles is attacking, I think Nasu's charge times are insanely arbitrary and inconsistently implemented). Here, affirmation EMIYA increases the power in Hrunting with each shot fired (third shot took 25 seconds to charge, fourth shot is likely to be 30 seconds). Here, EMIYA is firing from 4 kilometers away, the roads to reach his position are about 8 kilometers in length total.
Here, Artoria releases Invisible Air and transfers all her magical energy into her body. Here, Shirou readies the command spell 10 seconds before EMIYA's next shot, the power this command spell will grant Artoria is enough to fill her enormous Magic Circuit, thus bringing her back to the level of power she had in life (basically, a single command spell has the power to take Artoria from being handicapped by Shirou being her Master to the level of power she'd have under Rin). Here, EMIYA fires his fifth Hrunting, Artoria leaps into the air towards the Center Building. Here, Hrunting's like a flash that reduces the time needed to cross 4000 meters to nothing. All of EMIYA's remaining magical energy went into Hrunting. Here, Hrunting mechanics exposition. Here, if Artoria at all wastes any of her magical energy on defending against Hrunting, Shirou and Artoria will taste defeat once more.
vs Shirou Emiya (General, Fate, UBW, HF, HA)
Here, EMIYA snipes Shirou with Hrunting, Shirou's left torso is a giant hole. Here, EMIYA's second shot kills Shirou.
Here, EMIYA's sixth Hrunting pierces Shirou's skull because Shirou forgot he could use Projection magecraft due to really being possessed by Angra Mainyu.

Tactics
Since Emiya is a Heroic Spirit from the future, he does not have any blessings provided by fame. In addition, he does not have Noble Phantasms, as a result his basic abilities are below other Servants. However, his exceptional use of tactics and battle experience makes his combat style very distinct from other Servants. The Archer class originally focuses on long range combat, but Emiya loves melee combat and wishes to conceal his trump card, thus he focuses on melee tactics with Kansho and Bakuya when engaging other Servants.
The reason an Emiya with no Noble Phantasms is able to match other Servants or even exceed them is the Reality Marble “Unlimited Blade Works”, which includes “all the elements necessary to shape swords”. This Boundary Field can copy weapons that are seen only once, and store them within. In the Fifth Holy Grail War, the weapons stored had exceeded thousands. Emiya can freely take out and utilise the weapons according to the situation, and he can also assault the enemy by firing many Noble Phantasms from the Boundary Field like arrows in the same way as Gilgamesh’s “Gate of Babylon”.
Emiya’s trump card is firing copied Noble Phantasms as arrows – “Broken Phantasm”. On impact, the magical force will explode, generating overwhelming destructive power. By assaulting melee Servants with this type of long range attack, Emiya is able to turn the odds to his favour.
Class Abilities
Magic Resistance: D
Emiya’s Magic Resistance is weak. Its rank is D, in other words, spells more than one bar will annul this resistance. The benefit it provides is equivalent to an anti-magic amulet. This level of resistance can be easily overcome by a relatively strong magus.
Although Emiya was a magus during his life and possesses unusual Projection sorcery, his affinity with “sorcery” is much worse compared to Heroic Spirits of ancient times who saw sorceries and True Magics as commonplace. The level of Magic Resistance is a result of this.
For Emiya who possesses low Magic Resistance, it is easy to picture the kind of effects great sorceries and ritual spells can have on him. Even spells greater than two steps can be lethal to him if hit. Because of this, Emiya is at a disadvantage against Caster, who has powerful sorceries at her disposal. Depending on the situation, Emiya may even have to pay attention to the attack of Masters who are magi.
Independent Action: B
Normally if a Servant loses his Master, he will disappear within hours if he cannot replenish the mana required to remain in this world. The amount of time each Heroic Spirit has before disappearing varies, but Emiya can remain in this world for 2 days due to Rank B Independent Action. However, this is the ideal value achieved by maximally conserving mana and avoiding battle and Noble Phantasm usage.
In UBW route, Emiya’s Master switched from Rin to Medea, and after Medea’s death, he continued to operate independently and battled Emiya Shirou. Through all these events, one is able to recognise Emiya’s ability to survive alone. In addition, even if Emiya’s spiritual core sustained lethal damage, he can still survive for a short period. This ability is the reason why Emiya is able to secretly observe Shirou and gang’s battle as a spiritual body after being defeated by Shirou. In addition, after the battle between Shirou and Gilgamesh had concluded at Ryudo Temple, Emiya appeared in front of Gilgamesh as he attempted to pull Shirou into the darkness. He shot an arrow between the eyes of Gilgamesh and sent him alone into the darkness. The arrow shot at that time was a regular arrow, and from the fact that Emiya gradually began to disappear after this attack, this is probably the limit of Emiya’s materialisation.
Personal Skills
Clairvoyance: C
The visual ability that is also called “Eagle Eye”. This is a must-have ability of the Archer Class. It is also frequently used during scouting. Simply looking from a high location is sufficient to fully survey the town and search for enemies. In addition, Clairvoyance will affect the accuracy of bows. Also worth mentioning is that, as Emiya readies his bow, he will be able to precisely snipe even enemies moving at high speeds as long as they are within a 4km range.
Archer, who possesses Clairvoyance, is able to execute “ultra long-range sniping” with accuracy transcending the realm of men.
Thaumaturgy: C-
During his life time, the sorceries learned by Emiya are unremarkable. Before becoming a Heroic Spirit, even “reinforcement” was quite difficult. However, the “projection” sorcery he wields is quite special, as it is able to duplicate weapons, including all the components, to near perfection. In addition, during duplication, he can even read the wielder’s skills, which allows him to gain all kinds of Noble Phantasms and combat skills.
During his life time, Emiya used the preliminary step of projection – “structural analysis”, to find the location of an item’s fault and proceed with repair.
Eye of the Mind (True): B
A danger-avoidance ability that utilises the intelligence collected up to the current time as the basis, in order to predict the opponent’s activity and change the current situation. This is not a result of talent, but an overwhelming amount of combat experience. A weapon wielded by none other than a mortal, gained through tenacious training. Using Eye of the Mind, Emiya was able to successfully counter Cú Chulainn’s thrusts that were invisible to the eye.
Even with Rank B Eye of the Mind (True), Emiya was unable to see through Emiya Shirou’s passion-infused strike which put “ideal” on the line.
Noble Phantasm
Unlimited Blade Works
Rank: E~A++
Type: ???
Range: ???
Maximum Targets: ???
The “Innate Bound Field” wielded by Emiya. It is his ability as a Heroic Spirit with no Noble Phantasms. The inside of the reality marble is a world like a steel mill, filled with weapons, flames, and giant gears. The uncountable swords plunge into the ground and were preserved thus. The majority of the weapons persevered in the reality marble are Noble Phantasms of Heroic Spirits copied through projection sorcery, each possessing deadly powers. Although the majority of the weapons are swords, the Noble Phantasm that provides absolute defence against projectiles, “Rho Aias”, is also said to be copied and stored in the reality marble. Also, the ability of the replicated Noble Phantasm suffers one rank down compared to the original.
Not only can Emiya freely access the weapon stored inside Unlimited Blade Works, he can also modify the weapons to his wish like Caladabolg II. In addition, he is able to capitalise on his ability to repeatedly project: use Noble Phantasms as disposable arrows, and then unleash the magical energy stored within – the tactic called “Broken Phantasm”.
Rho Aias
The shield used by the hero of Trojan War, Aias. The Boundary Field Noble Phantasm that provides absolute defence against projectile weapons.
Kansho and Bakuya
The famous swords of Chinese legend. The Yin-Yang, Female-Male paired swords based on the Yin-Yang Doctrine. Emiya’s favourite melee weapons.
Caladbolg II
The legendary sword “Caladbolg” of the Ulster Cycle, projected and modified by Emiya. Not very useful as a sword, but rather used as an arrow for “Broken Phantasm”

Archer vs Rider
Editorial department (Prediction)
At long range his fire won't work against Bellerophon.
At medium range the bow is really handy, and Rider who's inferior in skill only has her Mystic Eyes.
But if Archer's bow starts to get petrified, he can activate Unlimited Blade Works.
In which case Rider will just use Bellerophon and destroy him instantly.
He can't shoot them down but Rho Aias can buy him time enough to pull out Harpe and maybe have a chance at victory.
Nasu-san CHECK!
You would think Archer would have the advantage, but Rider actually has the edge at long range? Just like that question, their compatibility is not very good. Since both aren't fixated on the methods of winning, they'd definitely both choose a low-risk and high-return type of warfare.
Even if Archer takes out a Saber-class holy sword, he doesn't have enough magical energy to draw on to maximize it, so it'd be hard to for him to attack Bellerophon. What determines victory or defeat is whether Aias on its own would be enough to block Bellerophon perhaps...?
Type-Moon Double Maniax - [Fate] Dream Battle - Saber vs Archer
Nasu-san CHECK! The class of the representatives of close-range and long-range combat. Saber, who would take her sword in any condition whatsoever and Archer who would fight using a strategy of victory. The highlight won't just be the different battle styles, but the difference between their personalities. However, even with UBW, it's questionable whether he could hold Saber back in single combat. One definite hit from sniping and one absolute blast of death from her Holy Sword. It might really depend on the wit of their Masters not their own in determining who has the upper hand.
Type-Moon Double Maniax - [Fate] Dream Battle - Archer vs. Assassin
Nasu-san CHECK!
If it's a straight out death match, then Archer will win. But Assassin is an oddity that fights under different battle conditions from the other Servants. While many Servants are offensive, Assassin is defensive. At a Servant-killing battlefield like Ryuudou Temple and with Caster's anti-sorcery defensive barrier, sorcery and Noble Phantasm power is decreased significantly. As a result, if it's not a powerful Noble Phantasm, then he won't take a fatal wound. Which means that the battle between the two is clearly swordsmanship. With Archer having his sniping sealed off to him due to the terrain effect, could Archer actually lose...?

Unlimited Blade Works
Fate/side material p076 said:Infinite Creation of Swords [Noble Phantasm, Magecraft]
Unlimited Blade Works
Though it is treated as a Noble Phantasm, technically speaking it is a type of sorcery called a reality marble.
Within this reality marble exists all the ingredients needed for the creation of swords. So long as Archer has seen the original, he is able to easily replicate it.
However, the replicated weapon has its rank reduced by one.
Replication of defensive armaments is also possible, but it requires two to three times more magical energy than a normal projection.
Once an armament has been replicated, it is registered inside the boundary field and can be manufactured with projection sorcery even without expanding the reality marble.
Against a normal opponent this is little more than a somewhat troublesome ability, but it is the natural enemy of a certain King of Heroes.
Comptiq 2006-10 issue - Fate Dojo Q & A said:Q: Is it possible to recreate swords consumed or broken within the bounds of Unlimited Blade Works without the use of prana?
A: The prana expenditure required for the formation and upkeep of the Reality Marble would be continuous, but armaments already formed upon the deployment of the Reality Marble would be without cost. However, the recreation of items destroyed and the fresh creation of items not in existence at the time of deployment would expend significant amounts of prana.
Fate/complete material III p134 said:Q: What is the limit of replication in UBW? The highest level of NP (sword types) is probably Ea, but while it might be impossible for Shirou, could Archer make it? Also, under the meaning of weapons, to what extent can he make modern weapons? Must it be only blade types or can he make guns and mobile weapons?
A: Divine constructs like Ea and Excalibur are non-replicable. There might be some degraded NPs with similar performance in stock though. Also, since sword is becoming his origin, the weapons that he has stored are fundamentally limited to close combat.

Infinite Creation of Swords [Noble Phantasm]
Archer's noble phantasm. A barren wasteland lined with a thousand blades. A great ritual deployed using eight lines of projection. A type of old world magecraft, called a reality marble, which manifests the internal world of the caster and writes it over the world for a small amount of time. All of the weapons Archer can project are there and in this space he doesn't have to project them from scratch, instead he can immediately pull out the weapons sticking out of the ground.
In EXTRA, the conditions for where wrought iron is possible are boosted so projection of holy-sword class weaponry is possible, though their performance is inferior.
Okay truth is, I was surprised to find that the staff in charge of the 3D had made animation for Excalibur being projected while I was looking the other way.
Well it is new animation after all and there's no reason to reject it. So long as it's a degraded version, I guess it's okay.
Here, EMIYA deploys Unlimited Blade Works despite apparently running on fumes
Here, a description of Unlimited Blade Works. Here, Reality Marble description. Here, Unlimited Blade Works lets EMIYA reproduce and store any weapon he sees the original version of. Rho Aias
vs Ea (7 petals, EMIYA)
Fate/side material p078 and 079 said:Rho Aias [Noble Phantasm]
The Seven Rings that Cover the Fiery Heavens.
In Greek mythology, the shield used by the hero Aias during the Trojan War.
It was a bronze shield covered by seven layers of ox hide, and the only thing that proved capable of stopping the javelin of the great hero of Troy, Hector. (Though it managed to penetrate six layers of ox hide, the seventh layer was unbroken.)
Afterward, its fame spread, and its existence was eventually sublimed into a "conceptual armament" boasting absolute defensive power against thrown weapons.
It is the only defensive armament Archer can use proficiently.
The Rho Aias that protected Shirou's spellcasting during the finale of the Rin route was not something he projected himself, but was actually made by Archer who was watching the battle from a distance.
Fate/complete material III p130 said:Q: In the end of the Rin route, was it Shirou that projected Rho Aias in the Shirou vs Gilgamesh fight? Or was it Archer? In "Fate/side material", it's said that it was projection magic from Archer, but in the story, there was the depiction of Shirou "pulling the shield from the hill". Does this mean that this switched to Archer's scene?
A: This has been easy to misunderstand, but the part about Archer supporting Shirou was the time before Shirou pulled out Rho Aias, before Shirou came to his realization. After Shirou's monologue about his surprise that he was still alive after taking Gil's attack, "If I survived, there must have been a reason why I survived. But that was simply something I didn't have any control over." That was the "Rho Aias" that Archer made to help Shirou in a way that wouldn't let Gilgamesh know there was someone else waiting to ambush him.
Comptiq 2005-10 issue said:Q. I have a question about the Servants vs. other character answer in the 9th issue of Comptiq. About a Servant with an average Noble Phantasm, who would have one and what rank would that have been?
A: That's a serious question. The level of the Noble Phantasm would be B, and ability being represented by numbers would be called an average Noble Phantasm. Broken Phantasm, Barrier of the Wind King (C), Gae Bolg (thrown) (B), that sort.
On the other hand, those with conceptual effects, destiny interference types fall into a special category. With Gae Bolg (regular), no matter how much Arcueid might be superior to Lancer in numbers, she will be killed depending on her luck, you see.
Fate/kaleid liner PRISMAILLYA 3rei Volume 2 p123 said:Broken Phantasm
The Noble Phantasm is changed into an arrow and fired in an explosion attack. It is a disposable bomb that merely uses the magical energy contained within the Noble Phantasm to explode. It is the worst possible insult for a Noble Phantasm to be used this way. As long as there is magical energy Noble Phantasms can be projected. This is a foul play unique to this Heroic Spirit.
Here, Broken Phantasm exposition (that's what EMIYA did to Herakles with Caladbolg II)
Caladbolg II
Fate/complete material III p128 said:User: Archer
Caladbolg is the demonic sword wielded by the Irish hero Fergus mac Róich in Celtic mythology. The version that Archer projects has been altered to improve its function as an arrow.
In the legends, Fergus mac Róich was the former king of Ulster and foster-father of the hero Cú Chulainn. However, he was tricked out of his kingship, and later allied with Connacht, an enemy of Ulster. During the decisive battle between Connacht and Ulster, Fergus was able to corner the enemy king who had betrayed him, but was prevented from killing him. It is said that he redirected his rage at this turn of events upon three hills, using Caladbolg to blast their tops clean off.
Cú Chulainn is affected by a geis that makes it his duty to be defeated once by the sword so long as the wielder is Ulster-born. For that reason, it could be said to be his natural enemy.
Also, there is a theory that the Caladbolg from Celtic mythology is the same sword as the Caledfwlch from Welsh mythology, making it a prototype of Excalibur.
vs Artoria Pendragon Alter (Shirou Emiya w/EMIYA's Arm)
