Well, that would explain why she has you go kill Astel during her quest line, though she also had you kill Radagon who was keeping it out so..... 🤷‍♂️
Basically, she wants everything extraterrestrial gone. Including the Greater Will.

When she talked about crippling people? She actually meant to make it so it would be impossible for people to interact or even meet things like the Greater Will again. The no aliens ending. Or, "Lands Between is only for humans you god damn aliens."

Here's the proper translation of her scene where she tells you what her order entails. Which the English version makes sound like she wants to cripple everyone, and start an ice age.

"About my order
My order will not be one made of gold, but of stars and moon in the chill of the night
And then I will take this power far away, from this land beneath
Right now, life and soul are still bound to the order, I will (separate their connections ?)
And make the inevitability for one to feel it, believe it exists and even touch its presence an impossibility (make it impossible for the order to influence an individual basically)
This is why I will leave these lands, together with the order"

Makes me not hate her as much. Still murdered Godwyn though. Though this puts into question what her motivation was. I guess what she actually wanted was the Shattering to happen. So, that she could enact her plan. And Godwyn was a means to an end for her.

Cold and callous of her to murder her nicest brother but at least it was for a good reason this time. Rather than "lol, I am gonna destroy all life as we know it."

I bring this up because Malenia's armor is made entirely out of unalloyed gold, and in it we see that she still retains a reverence for her brother.

Imagine if Miquella is the whole reason why Radagon wanted to fix the Elden Ring. :skully

Mind you, this can also just be read as this being the catalyst for him to switch to unalloyed gold but it can also be read as this being the very first spell of unalloyed gold he attempted. Which he taught Radagon.

Very suspicious regardless since a lot of the magic Radagon knows comes from Miquella.
Honestly ever since I read that first one, I wondered if it might actually have been Miquella manipulating Mogh all this time and not the other way around :skully

Because Malenia, Mogh, and even Marika apparently all see Miquella's potential to rise to true godhood. Also note the arm we see in the cocoon has clearly grown; Mohg "raising him to godhood" has found some way to counteract his defect of being born in a child's body. Gideon also clarifies that Miquella is only sleeping, so we know he's not dead.
Big if true. There seems to have been a massive mistranslation.

The original text for Ranni's Age of Stars says, supposedly in this case, that her actual intention is to remove all Outer God influence from the Lands Between. And go on a voyage into outer space with her consort. Apparently, this is also the same world or even multiverse as Sekiro and Okina comes from Ashina.

I wonder if anything else might be mistranslated. 🤔
You know, this is kinda not that surprising. DS1 had a lot of translation issues, like the fact that the Witch of Izalith's name was just "Izalith" being left out of the entire english version of the game. Idk how into the other souls games you are but this guy has a great series of articles breaking down translation differences and how they've created a lot of false urban legends in the lore. https://lokeysouls.com/

Makes me hate Ranni considerably less.

Still wish she didn't kill Godwyn though. Guy was the best demigod of the lot, and the only one willing to listen to reason.

yeah I really can't figure out why she would have killed him
it doesn't really line up with anything we know about her or him
like Godwyn was such a bro he basically saved the dragons that were attacking him
he's a saint by soulsborne standards, especially with how gods are portrayed in their other games lol

She admits to it though, and I imagine it's because a lot of people would be able to overlook the death of the other demigods. Imagine if she had Mohg assassinated instead. Literally nobody would care, and the Shattering probably wouldn't have happened. And the Shattering is essential to what she plans to do.

Mohg would probably be glad considering his last words when you beat him :skully

that reminds me

there's a ton of post death dialogue in Elden Ring and it's throwing me off because it only ever happened twice in dark souls, with Aldia and Father Ariandel. I wonder what the significance of it is with Malenia or Mohg etc

I wish i could play the game,i bought a new notebook that would also be able to run it on good settings just so they cancel my order and before i can check the reason the company got hit by a ransomware attack :catsob

Makes me feel even worse for Malenia. Cursed with the scarlet rot. Mind controlled by her brother. Her lover is a lunatic who loves the god that cursed her, and her daughters with exception of Millicent also worship the scarlet rot.

And everyone around her that actually cares about her dies because of it.
