Imagine having the gall to steal a statue of the Emperor, then when the Romans come down to demand you give it back...you ignore them for three days and put up such a fight that the Emperor himself had to give into YOUR demands.

Just goes to show that if they had any genuine interest in telling the history of Black Queens, they could have easily done so but of course they didn't do that, because why represent those people when you can race swap a Greek woman for political reasons?

Generally speaking, we can assume most, if not all versions of Cereza went through the events of Bayonetta Origins, given Lukaon's death and subsequent re-incarnation as Luke occurs in most of them. The full grown Lukaon that appears in 3, likely comes from a universe where he either won the battle against Cereza and sacrificed Cheshire (which gives an ending screen showing him in his adult form) or Cereza willingly allowed him to do so, hence his survival.

Specifically the Cereza being followed in this game is Cereza Origin. We know this because you can unlock the outfit she wore when she was pulled through time in Bayo 1 (which is the split-off point for her universe) which specifically references those events and because in the bonus chapter, Singularity refers to her as Arch Eve Origin.

"Lukaon's backstory and the Faery stuff doesn't add to Bayonetta 3."

I mean it explains who the fuck Lukaon even was for starters and gives more insight into the Faeries who hadn't been explored much up to that point. Also the reveal of Luka being Lukaon's reincarnation not only explains where he got his powers from but also why Cereza is so protective and attached to him from the jump, given she'd viewed Lukaon as a kindred spirit and developed a bit of a crush by the end of Origins.

While I still have issues with some of the big themes of the game not meshing with the series as a whole, Bayonetta Origins absolutely did a fair bit towards making Bayonetta 3's plot make a lot more sense and adds to the relationship between Cereza and Luka. I don't think it's entirely fair to say that it added nothing but depth to Cereza's character.

There is another point which points out the Cereza we see in Origins is actually the Cereza we see in Bayo 1... and I don't mean Bayonetta, I mean the KID Cereza.
And that's her singing "Fly Me To The Moon" to Chesire at the end which she would only know if she's that Cereza who was plucked out of time.
