They do not NEED to ALL have crossguards, it's enough that it's been added as an option but it does not need to be universal. That would be fucking boring.

Having a Cross Guard for a Lightsaber would legit do nothing except cause potential issues for everyone involved as there's a reason people laughed at Kylo Ren's.
Light saber activate on thoughts any kind of Physical object as defense it can just pass through and is completely pointless, Seriously if they just turn the sword off when hitting the wrong target then activate it when hitting the right target most lightsaber fight would end in 1 hit. Also the older version of Lightsaber literally turns shit to ash it doesn't just cut. So any form of solid blocker isn't going to help.
IIRC Turning your lightsaber off and then on is actually considered dishonorable af among Jedi and Sith
