It's not the powerscalers that are an issue. It's the guys who'll lose their shit if you enjoy a piece of work through the anime or manga or any medium that isn't 50 hours of "you read, then you click, then you read, then you click." And the only reason they act like redditors about it is because they're so used to decade-old (or older) machine translations that any amount of fluent English is considered Shakespeare to them. Most of them aren't even that good, they just think good art + good music + voice acting optional automatically makes something into high class literature. They're like Light Novel fans except Visual Novel fans unironically seem to think they're giving you a life changing experience, and if you didn't like it it's because you watched the inferior anime where the main character says "I might go to the store today" instead of "Should I go to the store today?"
My feelings don't come from nowhere, I've dealt with these people. I only meme on Dies Irae the way that I do because someone I knew unironically spent every day trying to make me read it for months, hyping it up like it was the Second Coming of Christ.
