OBD Convo #59: RealxEyes

Recently, I watched Dragon Half on Amazon Prime video and that anime slapped and hit pretty goddamn hard.

Anyone else here viewed that series?

After finishing the series, I kinda wished it had some more episodes in hindsight lol.

Do they mean hardworking as they got the way they are by strength and dedication to get that strong... or hardworking in that they work hard?
Because I have no idea why Naruto, Mob, Deku, Saitama, Denji, Boruto or even Ichigo got there.
But if they mean the latter, then I can see why they are there for differing reasons(Mob basically working on his flaws no matter how shit he is at it, Denji trying and failing and trying again to live a good life, Ichigo ultimately understanding who he is as a person, Naruto becoming Hokage)... still don't know how Boruto is there regardless.

EDIT: And I'm stupid because I didn't realize that it's a row of those gifted and whose hardworking... and Goku being in Gifted is what got me laughing hardcore as is Deku being "Gifted"... unless you genuinely take gifted at it's word for how Deku got his powers in the first place.

How the fuck is Asta "Gifted"? Did this dude read some other version of Black Clover? Yuno is the one whose a prodigy with a 4 leaf clover and he still had to work for it.

Goku also shouldn't be there either. It's like people forgot he was fucking weak at first and had to train like a madman under mutliple different masters to get to the point he's at now.

I can at least see the logic for Luffy because Nika but it's still fucking laughable to claim he didn't work hard and is just "gifted" everything.

Asta’s the exact opposite of gifted. Namely so stunted, he has no business ever calling himself a wizard when he has literally 0 magic

Literally the only reason he’s able to do anything is from years of working his ass off to be at peak physical condition to make up for it and coming across a demon who had the exact same stunted development and trained themselves to be a literal Imagine Breaker against a whole setting that relies on magic to make up for it

Likewise, Ichigo, Yuji, and Naruto all being hard workers is pretty egregious

Yuji, even leaving out how he’s got the King of Curses inside him, is shown to be a naturally gifted Sorcerer with how easily he’s able to use Cursed Energy and learn Black Flash.

Naruto, most you can say is he’s a late bloomer. But he had the Nine Tailed since birth whose bailed his ass out more than Sukuna’s bailed out Yuji while being nowhere near as malevolent or detrimental, he’s from the Uzumaki clan whose renown for their naturally above average stamina and chakra reserves, and worst of all, he’s the literal incarnation of a demigod alongside the First Hokage before him destined to fight the incarnation of said demigods brother, Sasuke

Bro was destined for greatness from the start and was really never an underdog, just a slow learner and reckless.

Ichigo, nah. Dudes keeps pulling powerups out of his ass to win every fight and his origins gets more ridiculous with each arc

Oh, Ichigo took all of Rukia’s powers and is able to fight Shinigami who’ve honed their power for thousands of years just with a few weeks of training because his dad is a Shinigami, making him a natural that learns Shikai and Bankai within a few days each.

Except, he’s also a Hollow-Shinigami hybrid called a Vizard on top of that, and one that gives him a new form as the plot demands unlike every other Vizard just cuz reasons

Oh, said Hollow comes from his mom being attacked by one while Ichigo was in the womb. So that makes him a Fullbringer as well.

Oh and did we forget to mention, Ichigo’s mom turned out to be a Quincy as well? What are the chances?

I guess Saitama worked hard, but the power he got from his exercise was an unreasonably massive payoff

It COULD work yes but, SHOULD they do it? Is it the best fit for Bleach from a gameplay stand-point? No

Stylish Action/Hack n Slash games fit series like Bleach where they emphasize the speed and spectacle much better. Hell Final Fantasy XVI would be a pretty good template for how to make a Bleach game in this style work. You want the player to feel powerful while also providing a challenge, not gimping them and making them move like a sloth for the sake of difficulty which is completely at odds with how fights in the series itself play out.

If it MUST be at least souls-adjacent, I'd rather give the job to Shift Up. Stellar Blade's the best mix of the two systems I've seen, though I'd want them to give more incentive to actually do combos. It's also more suited in terms of art style to adapting a manga/anime product.
