All of the Empryean's have the Two Fingers favor by default, they're the ones chosen to take the role of god/goddess of the Golden Order. This fits Marika more closely than Ranni. Malekith was explicitly a gift to Marika as an Empryean.
Again, nope. Ranni was a candidate to replace to Marika. That is why she had the favor of the the Two Fingers. She even had her own Malekith. Blaidd was made by the Two Fingers to protect her. And why in the world would it be Marika? It doesn't line up with her motivation whatsoever. It is also why the shade they sent to kill Ranni was a clone of Blaidd.
No, it's only used for Marika and three others: Ranni, Maniela, and Miquella. Those three are the ones who could potentially replace Marika as head of the Golden Order. In fact those three are explicitly the only ones among the demigods with that title, per dialogue in Ranni's questline early on.
Nope, they all share that title due to their relation to Marika. It has nothing to do with whether they have the favor of the Two Fingers. It's reflective of their divine stature. Not whether they are a candidate to replace Marika. The sign that they are is usually in the form of a guardian sent by the Two Fingers. In Ranni's case it was Blaidd.
Rahdahn, Godrick, Mohg, and Rykard don't have the qualifications for whatever reason.
They're all empyreans but what is different is the fact only Ranni had the favor of the Two Fingers. Empyrean is a race.

Not helped by the fact the game intentionally has contradictory information.

Gowry for example claims that the sign of being a true Empyrean is the scarlet rot, and that the scarlet rot is the difference between being a demigod and a full god. However, even he never establishes that this means Millicent or Malenia can replace Marika. And that being a true Empyrean is again indictative of something totally different.

The second phase of Malenia's fight has her become a full goddess after her third scarlet blossom, and the magic relative to that notes that the third time transforms an Empyrean into a full god from a demigod.

However, this is again contradicted by the fact none of the actual candidates for Marika's position had it. Which means being qualitative of being the Elden Ring's host? Has nothing to do with being either a demigod or a full god. It's some other unknown quality which Ranni had. However, neither Malenia or her brother had this capability. The former did however have the power to become a full god. Which is distinct from being able to serve as the host as the Elden Ring.

>thor gets on his knees and prays to his dead father asking him for strength
>Odin is now in mjolnir

That's what the Empryean's are, candidates to replace Marika. Or rather candidates to lead the Golden Order because Marika was one as well. All of the Empryeans had the favor of the Two Fingers because they were chosen.

And for things not lining up, the Gloam Eyed Goddess and her followers are both associated with Those who Live in Death (whose purpose opposes Ranni's) and have diametrically opposed powers (fire to lunar ice).

No, they don't. Again it is explicit that only Ranni, Malenia, and Miquella held the title of Empryean. Gowry says as much during the quest, that the Empryean is born to forge a new order. Its distinct from just being a demigod.

They're all empyreans but what is different is the fact only Ranni had the favor of the Two Fingers. Empyrean is a race.

No, Empryean is a demi-God born with the capacity to become a real god and take over the Golden Order (or replace it apparently but the Two Fingers don't want that)

However, even he never establishes that this means Millicent or Malenia can replace Marika. And that being a true Empyrean is again indictative of something totally different.

All he claims is that when the scarlet rot flowers again Malenia will become a true goddess, not that it's the only way one can do so. And during the same quest he specifically says that Malenia and Miquella were born Empryeans to replace Marika.

The second phase of Malenia's fight has her become a full goddess after her third scarlet blossom, and the magic relative to that notes that the third time transforms an Empyrean into a full god from a demigod.

Malenia and Miquella explicitly did qualify to replace her and were born for that exact purpose. Malenia can ascend by way of the scarlet rot for some reason, but that just appears to be her own peculiarity.

And after checking around I saw it pointed out that all three Empryeans are apparently being manipulated or at least guided to some extent by an Outer One.

Formless Mother is trying to control Miquella through Mohg, the "Dark Moon" appears to be a separate entity guiding Ranni, and there is an actual Goddess of Rot behind Malenia as well.

So that might be a qualifier, though the existence of the Dark Moon and GoR are only alluded to at the moment.
