Western comics and animation industry as a whole deserve it. We were already barely holding out before the entire SJW/woke scene infested into the general macro-world of entertainment which made things far worse. Japan doesn't play this game with its tokusatsu, anime, manga, or video games in general. People will simply focus on supporting companies like Bandai Namco, Koei, From Soft, Platinum, etc...that don't make the objective of their media to lecture or talk down on people over bullshit in whatever fad or trend is currently cresting on the internet.

The agenda driven identity politics is what people don't want in their media.

So if Disney, Warner Brothers, DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Ubisoft, EA, Activision, etc...want to do this, they get to die on their hill over it.

Kimetsu no Yaiba/Demon Slayer already outsold every single American comic combined in 2020 by a landslide. There is a reason for that and its a very basic one; people will talk with their money.

I can't remember who said it but someone basically pointed this out in a skit, the people making all this noise and invoking outrage over "PC/Diversity" or whatever aren't the people who actually buy shit

Oh it goes beyond a skit. Its pretty apparent most of these types of people don't buy or purchase said companies that cater to the woke, which is why they tend to flatline, look at Disney and what they did with Star Wars. The people that pushed for that silly shit and how they bastardized a beloved IP has shown at the very least even Disney is now aware the Sequel Trilogy is completely unrepairable and not salvageable. 2020, 2021, and likely for the next several years all they'll do is focus on the Clone Wars, Prequel Trilogy, and Original Trilogy stuff.

It never pays to operate this way.

Yeah, was pointing out I feel like I heard it during a skit, I just can't remember where

That rap shit feels so off. Terrible choice.
The Netflix version doesn't have any kind of its own identity or atmosphere going for it anynway, so this shit only serves to make it even more baffling .

Which is a fucking crime, cause one of the main things if not the main thing that made the books and games sell was that they were oozing with atmosphere.

Fucking hacks.

Who cares how many jokes are in it? Pretty sure it's not meant to be a comedy.

The guy above it's right, because we're infested with action movies that will keep pumping out jokes at all time weather or not it actually fits the story being told, people are getting used to that and giving shit to movies that don't do that.

Now I haven't read Dune, haven't watched Dune and don't really give a shit about Dune, but just because a movie doesn't have jokes in it doesn't mean it's bad.

Honestly, I have said that very thing for months as we all have and I know a growing number of people say the same thing:
All these movies have done is ultimately shattered the tone of how people think movies should work now.
Endless jokes and quips that absolutely destroy the tone the movie was going for and ultimately makes the villain look like complete shit and the hero look like a sociopathic cunt.

Hell, they are even leveling this at Fucking Eternals as if that wasn't going to be a shit movie on it's own which further highlights how degenerative most Marvel fanboys have become to literally expect shit like that to be the norm.
It's why I will ALWAYS die on the hill that Man of Steel is the best Superhero movie we've gotten during the sea of Marvel movies because it actually stayed true to it's atmosphere, whether you loved or hated it.

At the risk of minor spoilers, Dune is a tragedy about a dude accidentally inciting a galactic war that kills trillions in pursuit of vengeance for his murdered family.

It's not a particularly light-hearted series

Like this is part of why Infinity War is one of the best Marvel movies by far, they actually toned the jokes way the fuck down and allowed Thanos to be fucking terrifying as a result because the movie was for the most part, taking it seriously.

Compare this to Hela in Thor Ragnarok who was completely ruined by the fact we couldn't take her seriously, specifically because they kept spewing jokes in every scene she's in. Even the one where the MAIN CHARACTER'S HOME PLANET IS DESTROYED. :hm

Man of Steel was okay.

I'd still have Winter Soldier, Infinity War and Iron Man above it.
