It would seem as if Jeff’s original goal was for Overwatch 2 to just be strictly PvE story content, but Activision-Blizzard wanted a full sequel with more of a focus on PvP that went against his concept.

Of course, Overwatch 2 is planned to launch with a full PvE campaign, but constant delays have the game now looking like it will only be released by 2023 thanks to ongoing balance changes needing to be made.


It will be interesting to see how much of Kaplan’s PvE vision is retained with the sequel or if it will end up lacking in those areas.

Stick a fork in Overwatch 2, it's fucking dead. It's looking it will just be the PvE Campaign followed by the same old shit. Anyone who stupidly buys this game deserves to have their money eaten away.

Like I told my friends earlier if Jeff, Blizzard ect had any actual intent on integrating story content they'd have done it far sooner. He wanted new people to try the game later? what, by drip feeding info about the characters Destiny style? Except, at least with Destiny all of the info was at least in one place instead of needing to wait months/years in between cinematics and comics. Jeff wanted money too which is why they did things the way they did. He was just smart enough to leave because he saw the shit storm heading toward the company :skully

Same deal here with me. I played Overwatch damn near as much as I did FFXIV and I honestly... hated every damn minute after what? The first couple of patches? Where it was obvious that the game basically did the same bullshit Activision is known for by skewing the algorithm so that you are placed in a shit team vs. a really strong team to guarantee a loss?
The fact that they couldn't balance between Tanks and Healers to save their lives?(Seriously, it's usually 1 Healer that's OP to the gills and 1 Tank that is just ridiculously strong and the entire concept of them shouldn't exist in a shooter in the first place as they was) Meanwhile those same people bitched if a DPS was ever "too effective" and actually was able to do their jobs without basically needing to kill the Healers consistently to make sure anyone died?

So much fun that people kept asking for Roadhog to keep being a OHK machine because "That's his job" when his Hook was already a game changer as it brought anyone whose been hooked... TO HIM! As a Tank... who usually has an entire party near him as it should!
The game was pretty much fucked from the start when they didn't even remotely account for the fact that the Tanks being DPS machines in their own right while still having absurd Mitigation should have been tossed right the fuck out at the same time Healers can have freaking Healing Amps, Deny Healing and be able to do buffs that very few other characters can do without being a Healer and some can STILL do decent damage.

The game follows the formula of main tanks and off tanks (though people run two off tanks or two main tanks all the time) and Road's job is to be as obnoxious as he can. Usually he's not with his team which is why he has the healing flask. But Road is really the only one with one shot capabilities. Outside of Rein though tanks need some semblance of skill to do good dps .That said You're right in that they usually tend to make a tanks and healers OP especially on release. Brig and Bap for instance as well as Sigma.

for Healers though, Ana Zen and Baptiste are the only ones really doing damage. Moira is decent but she needs to decide between dps or letting her team die. None of this helps any of them really when they get dived by Tracer,Genji or Doom who fucking cackles as he drops from the top rope on whatever unsuspecting support that happens to be around. Tracer still has no real counter and even after getting nerfed into the ground Genji still team wipes whenever his blades up. So Healer damage doesn't change the game to much tbh.

And yes, Brig alone was the reason I quit the game because I knew that they was going to keep doing it especially with Ana's bullshit when she was released and they still didn't truly fix the most overtuned part of her kit(the Grenade).

But don't even get me started on Tracer or Genji because it's obvious nothing will ever be done for them despite how OBNOXIOUS they are. Tracer can literally melt even Tanks to the point even Reaper comes off weaker than her in pure DPS, her range of getting in and out is obscene and she virtually shits on every other DPS in the game by a country mile and Genji's Ult is way too versatile combined with he can last as long as Tracer does at that.
But them existing doesn't really defeat my point as alot of DPS are not them and they suffer pretty terribly otherwise(Doomfist keeps getting nerfed into uselessness or buffed into being OP for the same reason). Soldier 76 was nerfed into uselessness so fucking badly though by the time I stopped playing which was a fucking travesty(though he was buffed into being broken himself before that... really shows how badly the team can't balance shit).

They've actually been buffing the dps. The only dps that was nerfed was Widow who absolutely needed it. And this coming from a Widow main (granted I flex so I play almost everyone but still)

Ana has never been bullshit though. Her anti healing was fucking needed in a game where Mercy could bring the ENTIRE team back to life and Transcendence made your team untouchable outside of oneshot headshots. The only thing you could argue was really overtuned was nano considering it turned Rein, a tank, into a mobile death fortress. It got touched multiple times as well.

Brig was definitely busted but it came on the backs of assassins like ,Tracer and Genji literally wiping entire back lines with no counter play which was making healers not bother playing the game. Tracer to this day still has no actual counter in the game. McCree is the closest thing and a good tracer knows how to dance around his flash bang. The originally tried to mitigate this by adding Moira but eventually peeps learned how to play around her too. So brig was the attempt at making the support role not absolutely suck ass. She's currently hot garbage though. They added Baptiste later so that at least he would take some skill to do damage with but peeps would good aim found he was busted as he could do more dps than Mccree at the start which has also been corrected. He still does decent damage but only if you hit all headshots

Nah. Yeah she has to drain to recharge her healing but thats mainly for peeps who don't understand Moira is semi HoT. You don't need to constantly spray someone down till full health. So a decent Moira isn't going to find herself running out of healing charge especially with orb available. Which is where the choice between dps or healing comes in.

Reaper is fucking dumb. He's had tons of buffs since the start of the game. His teleoprt now has iframes, is much faster and he can act from it immediately. He stillhas the highest damage close range (where he should be) and they added healing to him based off the amount of damage he does. Currently in 1v1 or 2v1 with tanks reaper has enough sustain to kill both. Him and Doom are the only "tank busters" in the game.

Nah, Doomfist main problem has always been the fact that his abilities are inconsistent. Most of his nerfs were offset over the years too.

That said.................no most dps are in good spots

Soldier is busted now too. They virtually removed his recoil and gave him increased range.
McCree was given more health to offset his poor range as hitscan and a faster roll with increased distance. Fan the hammer was also improved a lot

Widow even after her nerfs (they reduced her range so she has to two shot headshot you now from across the map and she lost 25 health) is still the strongest dps and Ashe is just as dumb especially when pocketed. While Tracer has no counter play Widow can one shot from virtually anywhere on the map and Ashe punishes teams for grouping up with dynamite. Everyone still wishes Mei would get deleted and Sym's rework made her ridiculous for capture points. There is no dps thats really struggling right now tbh
