A general thread for feats and the universe of Demon's Souls and its remake, Dark Souls 1, 2, and 3, Bloodborne, Sekiro, and eventually Elden Ring when it comes out.

Dark Souls 1 - Gwyn and his knights lightning bolts take down the dragons. Nito unleashes a miasma of disease and death that disintegrate the dragons. The Witch of Izalith and her daughters of Chaos unleash a firestorm that incinerates the archtrees and scorches the lands, and Seath kills several dragons alone with his Sorcery. (4:18)

Dark Souls 1 - Ceaseless Discharge's death causes an entire lava lake to cool down into rocks. (3:31:40)

Dark Souls 1 - Manus's darkness will devour the entirety of Oolacile. If given enough time. (6:10:48)

Dark Souls 2 - Alsanna summons an ice storm. The range seems pretty far from the Grand Cathedral where she resides. It most likely seems she causes the entire Frozen Eleum Loyce to become covered in snow and icy fog. (3:20)

Dark Souls 2 - Alsanna sustains the intense icy fog that covered Eleum Loyce, quickly dispels it and breaks the magical barrier. (8:10)

Dark Souls 3 - The Curse-rotted Greenwood breaking the entire stone floor. (12:22)

Dark Souls 3 - Ringing the bell at Archdragon Peak makes a storm appear caused by the Nameless King. (12:36)

Dark Souls 3 - Ashen One killing the Nameless King causes the storm to dissipate. (18:31)

Dark Souls 3 - Filianore maintains the Ring City's state. (1:30) In the second video, where the Ashen One touches Filianore's egg thing, light emanates from her. It transports the Ashen One across space and time, with Filianore as a withered husk and the whole Ring City being barren of ash. (15:36)

Dark Souls 3 - The blood of the Dark Soul powers up Gaal, summoning lightning storms. Gaal is the host of the Dark Soul. (12:35) In the second video, the storm disappears after he dies. (15:47)

Dark Souls 3 - The blood of the Dark Soul can be used for painting to create a world. (18:53)

Dark Souls 1 - Fire Tempest describes the daughters of Chaos' firestorms as having "scorched the very earth".
Primal pyromancy of Quelana of Izalith.
Erect giant fire pillars in vicinity.

The tempestuous raging flames resemble those
summoned by the Daughters of Chaos when they
challenged the ancient dragons and scorched
the very earth
.

Dark Souls 1 - Great Chaos Fireballs melts large ground sections, creating a large gob of magma.
Art of the Flame of Chaos, which engulfed
the Witch of Izalith and her daughters.
Hurl giant chaos fireball.

The Flames of Chaos can melt stone,
producing a short-lived lava glob
.

Dark Souls 1 - According to Solaire's introduction, the First Flame is responsible for maintaining time stability.
Solaire during his introduction (Answering "Yes" to second question): "This pleases me greatly! Well then, take this. We are amidst strange beings, in a strange land. The flow of time itself is convoluted; with heroes centuries old phasing in and out. The very fabric wavers, and relations shift and obscure. There's no telling how much longer your world and mine will remain in contact. But, use this, to summon one another as spirits, cross the gaps between the worlds, and engage in jolly co-operation! Of course, we are not the only ones engaged in this. But I am a warrior of the sun! Spot my summon signature easily by its brilliant aura. If you miss it, you must be blind! Hah hah hah!"

Dark Souls 2 & Dark Souls 3 - The Repair sorcery spell description has manipulating time to repair items, and refers "Light is time".
Dark Souls 2: A sorcery that dates farther back than recollection.
Repairs equipped weapons and armor.

Uses light to repair damaged weapons and armor. Supposedly this sorcery restores items to a past state, but with the knowledge of this art lost, the finer details of the phenomenon are unknown.

Dark Souls 3: Lost sorcery from Oolacile, land of ancient golden sorceries.
Repairs equipped weapons and armor. Includes weapons with exhausted durability.
While the effects of this spell are rather subtle, its foundations are a well-guarded secret. Light is time, and the reversal of its effects is a forbidden art.

Worth noting that in DS2, similarly to how it's the first time Light is equated with time, Dark is equated with space and space manipulation

Twisted Barricade
A hex that distorted local space.
For a brief moment, spells are deflected.

Hexer Gilleah never took an apprentice, making it unclear how his spells were passed down.
It is even possible that hexes originated from another source entirely.

this could explain how the Abyss is able to manifest in all manner of kingdoms all over the world

also explains why Bonfires can teleport you around, since they exhibit all other major qualities of the first flame life, death, light, with the shadow cast being dark.

Would also explain the many instances of time travel throughout the series. Though I wonder how that interacts with some areas in DS1, namely Anor Londo and Darkroot Garden. Since Anor Londo is completely darkened when the Gwynevere illusion is destroyed, and Darkroot is the only area to actively be during the night, moon and all.

Believe Anor Londo being darkened was because Gwyndolin's illusion was destroyed, as all the knight constructs he created vanish as well. Evidence supporting that the silver knights and giants were just constructs of light is that the Giants have completely different resistances to the flesh and blood giants you see at Sen's Fortress (Occult deals more damage to the Giant Sentinels for instance, but not the other Giants despite them being the same species)

Demon's Souls - The Monumental holds the planet of Demon's Souls together. They counter the effect the Old One's Colorless Fog originally had on the world, once having erased half of it. The Slayer of Demons becomes a being of "unprecedented power" with the potential to be a Monumental only fulfilled in the Good Ending. The Bad Ending means the Slayer of Demons now aids the Old One instead of Allant.
The Monumental's Dialogue said:

Tutorial intro: Brave souls, who fears not death.
I shall guide you to the Nexus.
So that you may lull the Old One back to slumber.

After beating Phalanx (1-1):
We have long await'd you, slayer of Demons.
I am one of the Monumentals.
We preserve the fabric of reality.

There is something thou need'st to know.
Once, we too, a scourge of Demons faced.

In the distant past.

Under a benevolent rule the world was unite'd, owing to the soul arts.
Until, a lust for power caus'd the awakening of the Old One.
Across the land seep'd a colourless Deep Fog,
and the world faced extinction at the hands of the Demons.
Thanks be, we were able to lull the Old One back to Its slumber,
yet only after the loss of innumerable souls,
and half the world, lost…eras'd by the fog.
In order to mend the fabric of what land still remained,

we entrusted six elders with six precious Archstones.

One to the king of a small yet diligent land,
one to the king of the burrowers underground,
one to the wise queen of the great ivory tower,
one to the chieftain of lost and ill-fortuned souls,
one to the shaman of the tempest-worshipping shadowmen.
And the last to the great giants of the Northern Lands.

The Archstones were placed at nodes across the earth.

We contain'd the Old One inside this Nexus, and banned the soul arts.
Finally, we became Monumentals; half living sentinels of the fabric of reality.

Alas, the othe Monumentals have perish'd, and only I remain.

(Text: By the power of the Monumentals, the four sealed Archstones have been released.): Now it is your turn.
You must lull the Old One back to Its slumber, and seal it away for all eternity.
If not, the Deep Fog will absorb all that we know. Have you the strength to accept this mission?

Yes: Yes, we are fortunate indeed to have you. Now, go forth, and destroy every last Demon.
The Old One, without Demons to feed it souls, will a new servant seek, and lure you to its bosom.

We neutralised the Old One, and banned the soul arts.
Then we spread the Archstones, and in order to mend reality, Monumentals we became.

However, man's memory of history is o'er short, and before long he repeated his mistakes.
The Monumentals perished, and the Archstones were long forgotten.
And the short-sighted King Allant once again aroused the Old One.

No: Yes, I see. That is unfortunate. You should know that you will be imprisoned in the Nexus forever.
Just like the poor candle maiden.
You must destroy all the Demons if you wish to be freed from the curse of the Nexus.
The Old One, without the Demons to feed its souls, will seek a new servant, and lure you to its bosom.
You must lull the Old One back to slumber, for your own sake as well as for ours.

After answering 'No' and beating two Archdemons?: You must despise me. But remember, we Monumentals, too, are trapped within this Nexus.
For we prevent your world from breaking apart at the seams.

Please forgive me, but I wish to concentrate. 'Tis no easy task, being a Monumental.

After answering 'No' and beating three Archdemons: …… (silence)

After beating an archdemon?: Have you received assistance from the Candle Maiden?
She is a prisoner of this Nexus.
It is her duty to lull the Old One back to slumber.
That is why she helps those who hunt Demons, and that is why she has become a Demon herself…

A soul is the essence with which living things comprehend the world around them.
When one loses the Soul, one loses the mind; a land barren of Souls is absorbed by fog and banished to the infinite darkness.
The Old One is a bottomless pit of Nothingness, with an insatiable appetite for the souls collected by its faithful Demons.
The Old One's very nature cannot be fathomed by the living.

The soul arts shall be lost once the Old One is lulled back to slumber.
A soul is the essence of thought which is latent in all living things.
You must never forget…
The power that you now enjoy contradicts the essence of the soul, for it stems from Demon magic.

After ?: Have you visited the Pantheon at the uppermost floor?
The Pantheon honours those like yourself who sought the Demon souls.
Perhaps one day your soul, too, will be honoured in that same fashion.
That is the most we can do to give you thanks.
To give thanks to the brave and honourable warriors, who must fight to reverse our sins…

After beating all demons: You have destroyed all of the Demons. You soon shall hear the call of the Old One.
Then, the candle maiden shall guide you below the Nexus, where the Old One awaits.
She will lull the Old One back to slumber. That is, after all, her purpose.

When giving the friends ring (pure white character tendency): Take this. It will be of help to you on your quest.

When trying to kill him/her: laughs

Cease, you are wasting your lifeforce. I am a Monumental. You cannot harm me.
Good Ending Narration said:

The Old one, along with the maiden, were swept back into the lulling fog.
Boletaria was spared from the Demons, but also lost its knowledge of soul arts.
The souls lost during the pandemonium were never retrieved.
And today, the unstable world has another Monumental to hold its fabric together.
A brave new hero of unprecedented power.

This is what reality would be like without the Monumental (9:08)

Dark Souls 1 - Soul Spear invented by Big Hat Logan is on par with Gwyn's lightning. Crystal Soul Spear is even more powerful.
Soul Spear said: Sorcery developed by Big Hat Logan. Fire piercing soul spear.
A symbol of Logan's strength, the soul spear is referenced repeatedly in the legends, and is said to be on par with Lord Gwyn's lightning.

Crystal Soul Spear: Sorcery boosted by the knowledge Logan acquired at the Regal Archives. Fire piercing crystal soul spear.
These pale magic spears, sharpened through crystallization, are on par with the armaments of the ancient lords.

Dark Souls 1, 2 & 3 - Flame of Chaos is an attempt to create the First Flame, but it is a twisted flame that births demons. It also melts greater boulders and creates a surge of molten lava.
Chaos Storm (Dark Souls 1) said: Art of the Flame of Chaos, which engulfed the Witch of Izalith and her daughters.
Erect localized chaos fire pillars which change strength depending on humanity.
The Witch of Izalith, in an ambitious attempt to copy the First Flame, created instead the Flame of Chaos, a twisted bed of life.

Chaos Storm (Dark Souls 3) said: Art of the Flame of Chaos, from Ancient Izalith. Erects multiple chaos fire pillars in vicinity.
Chaotic flame melts even great boulders, and creates a brief surge of molten lava on impact.
The all-engulfing Chaos Flame eventually formed a tumultuous seedbed, which birthed the twisted things known as Demons.

Dark Souls 1, 2 & 3 - Seek Guidance describes that there are other countless worlds out there.
Seek Guidance (Dark Souls 1) said: Miracle of clerics on an Undead mission. Display more guidance from other worlds.
Guidance facilitates communication between Undead, but their value varies greatly. A balance of faith and wisdom is required.

Guidance (Dark Souls 2) said: A miracle created to help those who have lost their way. Reveals more messages from other worlds.
Countless worlds
loosely overlap, and at the seams of contact, kindred souls, who have lost their way, call out to one another with fleeting messages of hope.

Seeking Guidance (Dark Souls 3) said: Miracle of stray souls. Displays more help from other worlds and reveals summon signs without using an ember.
Faith serves as a guide for clerics, meaning they should have no need for secondhand wisdom.
Be that as it may, this miracle has been passed down from soul to soul, providing a tiny ray of hope for the lost.

Dark Souls 1 & 2 - Sunlight Spear is described as rays of sunlight and the melee version Sunlight Blade also describes it as rays of Sun in a form of lightning. The Sunlight Spear picture is the same similar icon as the Great Lightning Spear.
Sunlight Spear (Dark Souls 1) said: Miracle born from the fading soul of Gwyn. Hurl sunlight spear.
In the war that marked the dawn of the Age of Fire, Gwyn wielded these rays of sunlight, which remains fierce even as they fade.

Sunlight Blade (Dark Souls 1) said: Miracle wielded by Lord Gwyn's firstborn. Boost right weapon with rays of Sun.
The power of sunlight, manifested as lightning
, is very effective against dragons. When the eldest son was stripped of his deific status, he left this on his father's coffin, perhaps as a final farewell

Sunlight Blade (Dark Souls 2) said: An ancient miracle of the sun.
Reinforces weapon in other hand with sunlight, a form of lightning.
The sun grants life to all things upon the earth, even if the worshipers of sunlight no longer bless the surface with their presence.

Great_Lightning_Spear.png

Dark Souls 1 & 3 - Darkmoon Blade uses rays of the Darkmoon. Probably means when the Moon goes crescent, even the Blade of the Dark Moon's symbol is a crescent moon.
Darkmoon Blade (Dark Souls 1) said: Miracle granted to those bound by covenant to Gwyndolin, Lord Gwyn's lastborn. Boost right weapon with rays of Darkmoon. The power of the rays of the Darkmoon are manifested in vengeance, and the deeper the animus, the more devastating the attack.

Darkmoon Blade (Dark Souls 3) said: Miracle of those who devoted themselves to the Darkmoon covenant.
Reinforces right weapon with Darkmoon light.
Miracles of the Darkmoon are tales of revenge, but Captain Yorshka recites only for the sake of remembering her brother, with out knowledge of its meaning.
Perhaps this is better, as revenge is better left to the Blades.

blade-of-darkmoon-covenant-dks.PNG

Dark Souls 2 - Homing Soul Arrow and the Heavy version says it follows or seeks its targets to the ends of the earth.
Homing Soul Arrow say: One of the sorceries devised by Straid, the great mage of ancient Olaphis.
Fires souls arrows that follow their targets to the ends of the earth.

Heavy Homing Soul Arrow say: One of the sorceries devised by Straid, the great mage of ancient Olaphis.
Fires thick, powerful soul arrows that seek their targets to the ends of the earth.

Dark Souls 2 - Repel, Twisted Barricade distorts space.
Repel said: A hex that distorts local space.
For a brief moment, no damage can be inflicted.
The hexer Gilleah took no apprentice, and it is unclear how his spells were passed down.
It is possible that hexes originated from another source altogether.
Catalyst: staff

Hexer Gilleah never took an apprentice, making it unclear how his spells were passed down.
It is even possible that hexes originated from another source entirely.
Catalyst: staff

Dark Souls 2 - Resonant Soul, the Great version, and Climax distorts the power of life.
Resonant Soul said: A hex that distorts the power of life.
Emits a dark mass at the cost of souls.
Can be used even without souls,
but at a greatly reduced strength.
Catalyst: sacred chime

Great Resonant Soul said: A hex that distorts the power of life.
Emits a large mass of dark at the cost of souls.
Can be used even without souls,
but at a greatly reduced strength.
Catalyst: sacred chime

Climax said: A hex that distorts the power of life.
Emits a mass of dark, but at the cost of all souls.
Strength varies depending on the number of souls. Not a hex to be used lightly.
Catalyst: sacred chime

Dark Souls 3 - Twisted Wall of Light distorts light to deflect magic.
Twisted Wall of Light said: Lost sorcery from Oolacile, land of ancient golden sorceries. Distorts light in order to deflect magic.
A closely-guarded light manipulation spell that contorts the very fabric of fundamental laws, negating magic by denying its claim to physicality.

So how do we treat sunlight in this case? Would we treat it as actual sunlight or just magical lightning?

It's just lightning, because his name being sunlight is just a clever allusion to the fact lightning and the sun are both plasma based matter.

Has to be intended, because that is pretty much the only connection lightning has going for it compared the the nuclear fireball in the sky.

How do we treat the sun going out when the first flame is put out in DS3? Or the Darksign in said sun during the final act, for that matter.

The Player Character’s soul is analogous to fuel powerful enough to keep it going for years just like Gwyn’s managed around 1000.

Whatever the feat is valued, those that can ignite the flame anew are definitely peer to it in some way.

I'm down for that, I'm just always heavily conservative with dark souls feats due to the nature of the series and how little is directly confirmed. This makes sense though.

As far as value I guess we'd need to prove it's a real sun, given the rest of the world behaves so strangely. I recall you mentioned once there are heliocentric models visible in Lothric Castle somewhere
