New Fromsoft game announced, directed by Miyazaki this time. It's also multiplayer focused like Nightreign. Some similarities to Bloodborne in aesthetic, but more technology. There's a character who can turn into a Dinosaur or some shit and it seems like there's Vampires

Duskbloods interview with Miyazaki dropped

There is a sort of time travel element, explaining why anachronistic things like the high-tech train were seen in the trailer

Been trying to figure out a way to determine how big the Lands Between are from a lore POV. Someone already beat me to it a few years back

I'd been wondering about that myself! So, I went and did a bit of math.
To start with, I want to be up front with what assumptions I'm making. First is that the Lands Betwen follow a 24-hour cycle like earth that has been sped up for gameplay reasons much like the map has been shrunk for gameplay reasons. Second, travel and time are linked - longer distances take more time to traverse. Finally, we assume that other players are correct in measuring the Elden Ring map at 30.5 square miles.
The day-night cycle in Elden Ring takes about an hour to complete. If time passes 24× the speed in Elden Ring, then I feel like it isn't a far jump to assume that distance is 24× shorter as well. To make the math simple, we take the square root of 30.5 and multiple the result by 24, and then square that to give us the size of the Lands Between if time is used as a reference.
Tl;dr: 17,568 square miles, or about the size of Estonia.

This is pretty interesting and they also used the same assumption @ChaosTheory123 brought up about using the clock's sped up nature to determine the distances.

I'm not sure what the agreed upon size for in-game map is though, this guy got 90kmsq for the in-game map as he wasnt happy with the lack of explanation for the 79kmsq that got popularized

While this guy made a video measuring it all out that actually ended up around 100+ kmsq, but most of it being the ocean shrank how small the Lands Between actually were

The above reddit post with the 30sqkm seems to actually line up closely with this guy's analysis that the Lands Between in-game are about 28kmsq and used that to get their 17,568 square mile number

Have no way to vet the math

Mirko just did a deep dive on Radagon and the Great Rune of the Unborn's translation nuances and honestly this has turned a lot of the lore on its head for me

major takeaways
-He operates from an extremely literal read of the "Marika is Radagon" message in front of the statue. Law of Regression cannot change the statue back into Radagon, it remains as Marika permanently.
-There were language nuances lost tying the imperfections of the Great Rune of the Unborn, and Radagon's study of sorcery under Rennala and Faith under Marika to his goal of 'perfection'. In english it wasn't referred to as 'perfection', it says "Radagon aspired to be complete" so while not a mistranslation, the connection was not apparent to western fans whereas in Japanese the same terminology is used to tie it back to the process of Rebirths
-a conclusion is made that Marika utilized the Great Rune of the Unborn to rebirth herself into Radagon. Their items also amplify different stats, so it's as if she literally respecced herself lol
-This one's major: the japanese never says Miquella and Malenia were afflicted from birth, or cursed at all in childhood. They're simply called frail. However I do disagree with his assessment of Malenia's terminology of "chronic illness", or at least I'm a bit confused by his conclusion as this seems to be referring to the same Rot Miquella was trying to cure her of

The greatest part of this though is the establishing of Radagon's core character trait as trying to sort of regain agency and qualities Marika has that he lacks. (Also apparently the Giant's cursing Radagon with red hair is speculation in the Japanese text rather than an overt fact)
