It was fun, glad I held off killing Gram over Ultra ultimately, didn't really think he was gonna put me back into consideration in lylo if he was alive.

That said the Ultra kill and the general non-town vibe Ultra was getting from Nibel was good enough to gamble on it and take the chance.

I read over parts and thought some elemtns of the game (the Day Tempest got lynched) was actually quite good. Feel like that's where this site can be at its best.

@Ultra Curious but why did you think Fang was confirmed town/didn't know how to LyLo to be scum? I didn't check the votes again to make sure, but as far as I can tell, the only way he was confirmed not scum would be due to not hammering Gad, who was scum anyway and thus rendered moot. Kinda think Gad deserves a lot of props for resigning in a way that made it look like he and Nibel were caught, pretty good associative play.

Unfortunate about the rest of the game and seems like a lot of bad vibes, if shorter games aren't the solution then I really don't know what to do.

I don't think he was confirmed town logically off lylo, made a point that it could be anyone technically. Was just a rehash of my earlier read

I did get a little paranoid after day was over that Aurelian seemed to hesitate to hammer and would have revisited if Aurelian kept me alive but think I probably would have voted Nibel as well. In hindsight, definitely a lot of holes with the idea that Nibel and Gad were just bussing each other all game, but well Fang is Fang. He played more convincingly than he ever did so there's always going to be that wall there

Everyone gets emotionally charged up in these games, it's just important to leave it behind once the game is over; Gram, Poyser, Ultra, me, Tweet, Ekko, Flower, Watson, etc...

That's the problem with a low ability floor I guess, quite hard to tell when someone is scum vs when they're just them.

But yeah I got a lot of grief over getting HARD POCKETED by Aurelian, but it happens. 2 years or so of playing with someone like that will always make it hard to second guess until it actually happens

Glad to see you coming around to my "policy lynching is good actually" sentiment.

So, any ideas on what we can do to improve the general mood/enjoyment of games here? I know several have said they're stepping back, but I feel like we still have a core that can work to foster a community.

just dont afk for 3 days and everyone will be happy

@Ultra btw while i think nibel yeet is boring i think he has to go f7 before cp because hed be a bigger distraction f5 and f3..id still lose the game probably by yeeting cp f5 or f3 but the chance of a turn around is bigger

I want to give a constructive answer in the vein of "let's work towards this in future games". But that wouldn't be my honest opinion. Honestly, think this game kind of cemented that the gravitas comes from the presence of a couple of offenders.

I've noticed there's kinda two tiers of shit talking done here:

The first is the kind that comes from lighthearted banter and impassioned critique on a game level. Comes from a place of enjoying the game genuinely, and while there's some jabs thrown at other players, the explicit purpose isn't to cause injury. I think CP is probably a good example of this. This is all well and fine.

The second is the kind that comes from hating the game and/or hating the players in it, and making no qualms letting this be known. This is a major buzzkill. Some players also enjoy bullying explicitly, this is bad too

Maybe my perception is completely off base, but I think certain people can't stand playing this game and become energy vampires. Sometimes, players sound like the process of playing the game is physically painful, like a hooker is stomping their balls with 10 inch stillettos. And sometimes this game is tuff, but I do think there's a performative aspect to this attitude, or at least an unwillingness to re-address it.

I think we have spooked off a handful of potential players here who are both good and just want to play a game without getting treated like they're retarded - Prof, Mango, Charles come to mind off the top of my head. There are also players who have come here with shit attitudes and shouldn't be handheld in the process.

I dunno, there's possibly some projection on my part. And for what it's worth, I'm probably not very mature myself, but I think I trend into the first category. Even then it was enough for me to self reflect and step back from having mod attached to my name, because I see how it could be offputting or seen as representative.

Maybe it's time to just admit I've improved as a player. Look at this game as an example: you, Craig, Gram, and Ekko (and Magic but he was inactive so doesn't count) are all considered to be very good solvers, and my team wasn't exactly role wise strong.

Specifically the choices I made for kills were done with objective outcomes.

Ekko was knocked off in a blatant attempt to discredit Craig and the previous day with him sussing Craig and Gram.

Knocking you off when at that point even Gram had entirely resolved my alignment based off your flip results and the insanity of killing my stronger town advocate would only be done by Nibel.

And yeah nudging you and Gram to clash was kind of a repeat of letting Magic and Gram go at each other. Only difference was I pocketed him in that game.
