Watson was literally by herself when she used it. She claimed it at like 5:30am when Poyser was asleep. So any notion that he would have stopped her can just be dismissed.

Yeah, there is no chance in hell Watson uses a duel without being explicitly told by one of her scum mates to go ahead and do it. And she'd probably need the okay of the most proliferate one at that
It‘s not hard to imagine she just entered the thread, felt like she had to claim smth to get Town read and then just followed the thread on how to use it. This is how she operates regardless of alignment. She hasn’t mentioned and discussed the downsides of the duel at all.
So she simply doesn't claim it, or says it got unlocked day 3, or anything to that effect. It's purely to the benefit of town to use it here, the only issue I have is that I wish she had fully disclosed it. I don't really see Fuji giving this to a scum duel because it invites bussing, it's not how he designs roles. Could see it more easily as a way to nerf the power of a town role.
Nope nope nope. This is not her approach to scum at all. Just last game, she was asking me about everything she could. There is 0, ZERO, chance she claims and uses the duel before getting some sort of okay from Poyser. It's just not happening.

There's no way there's not discussion about using a duel on Poyser well in advance. It's not equivalent
@RDK Should be able to confirm this too. There is no way Watson does anything like this without making sure she runs it by her mate first. Her compulsion with not wanting to hurt her team is too pronounced to allow her to take any sort of initiative with this stuff.

Why would the cult leader have a duel that doesn't harm anti town? It's away from the point anyway, because we're talking about her being scum with Poyser. You're changing the sentiment, presumably because to you, conceding anything or admitting that your point is flawed is akin to an ego death.
It is a safety net, but why is it publicly disclosed if it's a anti town ability? I think it's perfectly plausible that Fuji sees the duel as an extra town kill, and, to not make it too punishing for scum, ensures that it doesn't rob the Mafia of their role power as a result. Not sure why you're acting like that isn't a perfectly plausible scenario for this sort of game.
