I hear some aren’t happy I admitted to being depressed this game. I’m not happy about it either. And I tried to downplay it and I felt like a pussy for admitting it. I’ve been leaking (metaphorically) from my eyes, ears, and nose and unraveling at the seams for awhile now lol.

Truth be told life’s been miserable lately (and just going to get worse before it gets better unfortunately). And I’ve been miserable lately bc of my poor ability to cope with it. And Mafia isn’t a good game for that. I put myself in a lose lose situation trying to play it out and took the option that was much much worse on myself anyway.

It’s no one’s fault. And I shouldn’t have subjected anyone to be playing a game with me if I couldn’t properly lock in completely. My fear of being called a coward for subbing as scum just won out and I’m sure it was the wrong one. (I know it was for me personally). I tortured myself sticking it out bc I was concerned with what people were going to think of me if I didn’t.

Obviously I’m a bitch to begin with for putting this weight of what online people in a forum community think of me but it’s just how I’m wired.

I do think if you had a perspective of what a puddle of a person I’m like in real life rn/outside of the game you’d see I did my best to not melt all over the place lol. Obviously not enough.

Obviously saying all this now or explaining it isn’t going to help that perception and just makes me look even more like a pussy lol. But well. That’s alright. It’s a lost cause anyway I’m afraid lol.

At the end of the day I’m just sorry to everyone else lol. The best you can get from me is an apology and knowing I feel worse about me and it than you do I promise. So know it’s not criticism flying over my head

If a player is sincerely distraught e.g. clearly not faking it for pity points or trying to leverage it like Flower, then I think a decent amount of good faith should be exercised. The super-social element to this game is important, being an unrepentant hard nose in this context I think leaves a bad impression on other players who will just be turned off seeing their distressed buddy get told to go eat nails for breakfast because he AtE'd. Especially in the context of a designated game for fucking off and doing silly shit, like for example, getting caught day 1 and getting into a gigantic flaming pissy fit about it.

I think it's especially ironic given how much shit I've gotten (not from you) for being too try-hard myself or whatever in Ranked Games. It's like what are we asking for lmao

Nobody should be forced to navigate somebodys god damn mental health when playing one of these games. If you cant function to that basic standard, then you shouldnt be playing, and moreover you should remove yourself from the game.

Its ok apologising after the fact, and i don't doubt he feels bad, but i couldnt care less. Its not the point of whats being said. The fact hes some of you guys' friend is entirely immaterial.

I dont really know what the bottom paragraph is relating to, im not aware of anyone giving you shit for playing properly

Just so we're all on the same page though, when all is said and done, Prof made an offhand comment which at no junction has he tried to apologize or excuse, no? It's not the same as say, Flower or Juice demanding the game stop and become an impromptu therapy session. He (arguably) denied Poyser the opportunity to push him, sure.

It really isn't about Prof being friends with anyone, per se. I just think this is a situation where given how relatively benign his offense is, if giving the cold shoulder and saying "get gud" is an appropriate response. I don't think it encourages most players here to keep playing if this is the environment expected in an unranked game. The uber try hard attitude in response to someone experiencing a real life issue may in fact cause people to not want to bother

I dont think setting the expectation that unranked games are a fiasco where basic rules and principles dont apply is particularly good strategy either, fwiw. I certainly know i won't be bothering going forward.

I think your use of the word "fiasco" is pretty liberal here though, tbh if it weren't for all the fuck ups on a set up level I'm not sure Prof would even be a point of conversation. From the length of time I was playing, nothing he invoked actually stopped him from getting pushed, feel like his follies are getting magnified by the fact that he had a skilless rand and undeserving win.

Essentially I'm saying pick your battles and have some empathy, everyone's here for a good time first and foremost.

As you edited this in afterward, ill again say that thats the problem- nobody should have to play real life issue simulator, and nobody ahould be introducing that kind of real life angle into the game in the first place. Thats got nothing to do with being 'uber try hard' and everything to do with not having that stuff weaponised against you

Again, youre wide of the mark. I dont remotely care about the botches etc, i think reading the scum chat will make that clear if for whatever reason you don't believe me.
 
This game was fine, it was close. and every faction could win. Calling it a fiasco is frankly insulting. Sure some things couldve been better but I feel like there is an exagerration here.
