Mooncake outruns a supernova and saves Greg. In order to go supernova, a star needs to have at least 8 solar masses. Red Giants at their highest weigh 8 solar masses, and have a diameter of 100,000,000 to 1,000,000,000 km, which will serve as our high and low ends.

= 2*atan(294/(638/tan(70/2)))
= 0.429934597 rad
= 24.633437874819009 degrees

Put that through the angscaler, and that puts the star at 229000000km away at a low end, and 133270000000km at a high end. Now for the timeframe.

(High end)
T = 133270000000km/55s

And that's just the expansion of the star. Mooncake gets back to the ship even quicker.
