If he's scum, he is directly tying himself to Alco when he doesn't really need to. He was mostly leant town before his info, if Alco is Scum and neither of them are killed soon it raises major flags for the both of them. I can see the reasoning behind hard-defending a townie from scum Phenom a little better, but it's still hard to reconcile as scum aiming to go deep in this game. As I mentioned, I'll need to go back and check the Voyeur stuff but surely if he's fake claiming he'd be aware that he denied it to you earlier in the game?

That's probably fair, but it's a bit too speculative because I don't see why scum wouldn't just refer to it as "the mafia"?

if he's scum and knows alco isn't scum with him, why wouldn't he do this? I don't see how it makes it hard for him to go deep into the game at all

The best I can say in support of this is that I know my town reads are hiding scum somewhere, and this would explain that discrepancy, but it's still going to be difficult for me to come around to it.

Essentially he would take a potentially mislynch in Alco away from his team, which will long-term only serve to tank his town cred because there is no good reason for scum to not kill him off.

Sure, but you realise I have difficulty just assuming that's the case when I expect everyone to be thinking long term. I know that's partly an issue of mine, but I can't just ignore that. The thing Gram pointed out is interesting, because assuming it came before Gram was confirmed, Gram asking Phenom about a potential Voyeur should have at least cause him to raise an eyebrow.
No scum is killing a cop that's out of shots (otherwise he has no reason to claim) or an IC over a player that can catch them outright or clear players outright, come on now.
