Tbh trying to figure out which power system is best would actually be an ass to do because there are so many manga with so many different power systems and then you gotta find the ones that actually elaborate on how their power systems work. and thats not even including fucking manwha shit.

stands are my favorite but if I have to pick a “best” it’s Nen every time, because it has one thing that other contemporaries tend to lack: you can basically create your own ability

Stands, Devil Fruits, etc are mostly arbitrary, you get what you get. Haki just kind of sucks and I don’t care about it. But Togashi aside from just doing cool things with Nen put a lot into each power reflecting the person and growing with them. I haven’t encountered another system that works so well. Funnily enough as much as JJK copies HxH this is the main thing it missed.

Esper power curriculum are super regimented in who even gets the opportunity to have their potential realized and it’s entirely by chance what the one power you get is. Vast majority of the several million Espers in Academy City are Level 0s and 1. There’s exceptions but that’s the gist.

Magic in Toaru by comparison is completely boundless and lets you do anything you want so long as it has some relation to a legend, religion, or mythology as the basis for the Magic and there’s plenty of room to take liberties on said basis to make it what you want it to be. Heck, just being born with the right physical characteristics and nothing more can have you draw power from the Son of God (Saints) or Norse Mythology (Valkyries) to be superhuman

Magic in Toaru by comparison is completely boundless and lets you do anything you want so long as it has some relation to a legend, religion, or mythology as the basis for the magic.

Just ignore the fact that if you do magic wrong you can accidentally fry your brain

Heck, just being born with the right physical characteristics can have you naturally draw power from the Son of God (Saints) or Norse Mythology (Valkyries) to be superhuman

tbh that's as bad as quirks, your relying on a 1-in a million genetic lottery to get superpowers.

Now gemstones-gemstones powers are great, no need to take drugs or do complicated maths to do shit, no chance of frying your brain, and its basically straight reality warping.

Yeah, To Aru's system isn't that great as while it may be well explained, Academy City is cheating the books pretty damn hard, you need to know INSANE levels of Math and Calculations to get the best out of your abilities and you still depend on a Field that can be screwed over by the wrong person.

And yeah, you can't be an Esper or a Magician without damn near dying or being crippled in the process.

anyone can learn Nen though, Kurapika is straight up teaching normal people how to use it on the boat as part of a political exchange iirc. The knowledge of Nen is being revealed as basically a gamechanger as the oldest Kakin Prince was pissed Tserriednich found out what Nen was

as far as Gon’s nen going away forever there is definitely something weird going on there because Ging said Gon still had his aura when they finally met

but also you gotta love Nen being so versatile they created fucking Greed Island with it
