Death Battle Discussion

For context: Did the Beyonder get retconned back into his pre-retcon power set/origin or is he still a weird cosmic cube baby?
he's now fully grown and just dipped out of existence. What's funny is that TOAA just watched him do that shit and continued to prove how little of a fuck he gives about any of his creations

Anyone got a pick for most disrespectful finishers in a Death Battle?

Tie for me between Homelander and Hulk’s deaths against Omni-Man and Doomsday.

Both finishers made to be as painful and degrading as possible for them before they went.

Apocalypse forcing a defeated Black Adam to watch Kahndaq fall before finishing him off.
Holy shut, how could I forget that one. What it lacked gore (relatively speaking, getting repeatedly curbstomped until your heads a bloody mess is still plenty brutal) Apocalypse made up for in sheer sadism

Goku Black getting trolled and road killed by Thawne
Kabal would be proud.

Madara reducing Aizen to a head with his TSBs before skewering him through the mouth with his staff and then popping his head like a rotten fruit was also pretty disrespectful.

Probably why that and the fakeout of Aizen looking like he won just prior is why it got Bleach fans especially salty. At least with Naruto, Ichigo went down fighting against Naruto using his biggest attack

Goku vs Superman 2. Lasering Goku's brain doesn't seem all that brutal or disrespectful, until you realize that the entire battle up to then, including when Supes' strolled through the Kamehameha wave beforehand, he never truly took Goku seriously as a foe, even once, and basically finished Goku off like he was trash. :wow

Wouldn’t go that far. Supes caught Goku from falling afterwards when he didn’t have to and seemed more sad about killing him (again) than anything else.

Now Android 18 crushing Captain Marvel’s head beneath her boot with a stomp as a her response to her trying to get back up is showing disrespect

:wow

The worst part is that DB thought it was somehow respectful which just comes off as :espurrtf

That was the only moment during that fight where Supes' kinda felt like the character, at least the modern version, since post-crisis. Before then? Definitely not.

What would've been respectful, is having Superman struggle through the Kamehameha wave. Show it taking genuine effort, before we get to the laser scene, and show Goku having a better struggle with Supes, where Superman is forced to stun Goku first, before going for laser eyes. That shit where he just held him that long in his grip and Goku did nothing about it other than hold his arm was just silly.

It’s a Death Battle. Just like it’s out of character for Misaka to kill someone over a coin when the canon version of her was depressed for a while over having to kill a rogue, sentient cyborg.

Compromise was Supes at least did it humanely.

Dude, death battle has managed to keep characters in character before, during their DBs, outside of when the kill shot happens.

Heck, they did Supes' a lot better in the first death battle throughout, with how he acted. Not perfect, but still much better than the second, because at least it felt like him, for the most part, and not just some rando asshole with his name and powers. :tupac

this shit have me heated to the end of time Goku was making that man working for his W in the first one and in the rematch he
wasn't shit :wow
man was a annoying ass dog that got worked

Shit, Goku nearly won the first fight had Superman not been conveniently supercharged by the Sun

Second round was much more obviously in Supe’s favor

Goku is gonna come back who he might fight against will be a question cause they aren't bringing goku back for another L with Clark

however this been pushed lately

Goku needs to get a win. Currently chilling in the 0-2 club with Hulk, Captain Marvel, and the newest member Darth Vader
