@Atem Apparently people are thinking Nepheli might be connected to that quest with Kenneth Haight, meaning it might be possible to install her as an actual ruler of Limgrave. Nothing confirmed but both quests are currently unfinished and Nepheli is the descendant of the first Elden Lord, so it could fit

Wait, there was that much of a time gap between him dying and the Shattering? Marika has the emotional reflexes of a fucking corpse :skully

Well to put it in perspective the Elden Beast saw fit to stick him with a literal living limiter (that tiger on his back) :maybe

I took that "as such they were both Empryeans, but suffered afflictions from birth" to be more about the second part. As in the whole incest thing successfully created two Empryeans but because incest is still incest they both got weird divine diseases. Unless Rennala was also somehow secretly Marika the whole time. :catwat Marika trying to channel one of the Hindu gods "bitch I was always everyone" :skully

We did the dance around that part sometime yesterday. IIRC my take was that Those Who Live in Death were playing her in order to make Godwyn their Prince of the Dead or whatever. It doesn't really matter, we'll both forget this argument by the end of today and then some new lore dump they find in Elden Ring will reveal it was secretly Alexander the Iron Fist behind everything because he craved war to test his mettle :mhm

Actually, forget it 🤷‍♂️ For some reason this appears to be emotionally compromising you, and we've gone around this circle about six times in the past couple of days. Not remotely worth going again

That's not remotely what that description says, though :catskully And she's not the Gloam Eyed Queen, that one was both an actual goddess and killed by Malekith, neither of which apply to Ranni.

That's not his purpose, that's what Marika ordered him to do. Again, as an Empryean, before becoming the Goddess. Empryean explicitly refers to the successors and only the successors, because Marika explicitly isn't one anymore post Golden Order. No, it wasn't. It's not the source of the Rune of Destined Death, it's the vessel its sealed inside. Again, literally stated by the descriptions we've posted here. And the same description you posted says that the power source was only sealed after their defeat. Good to know the item descriptions are made up of my fantasies. And how nice of you to post one of my fantasies for me. For the record, my "argument" is that the Gloam Eyed Goddess is the one who held the Rune of Destined Death (which is stated in item descriptions) and that Marika sent Malekith to kill her and seal it when she was still an Empryean. All of which is backed up by, again, the stuff you yourself posted No, their power was explicitly weakened by it being...

To be honest I'm not even sure what it is we're arguing about at this point. :mhm

No, his purpose was to be the shadow of his Empryean. And as we've already established an Empryean is the sucessor, not the actual Goddess. She did this before actually becoming the head of the Golden Order. This is directly contradicted by the item description that you posted, dude. Malekith sealed their source of power after defeating them. Again, directly contradicted by the thing you literally just posted as well as Malekith's own lore. He served her when she was an Empryean, before she was host of the Elden Ring at all. It was sealed, the flame incantations literally reference the fact that they've lost power because it was sealed. Malekith explicitly sealed their source of power after defeating them, the Rune of Destined Death is the source of their power via their item description, the Rune of Destined Death was sealed into the Black Blade, and Marika ordered Malekith to do so while she was an Empryean. All this took place before Ranni existed, and after she stole...

Apparently his....wife(?).....is hoping that if she eats him he'll possess her or something? I haven't done that quest line yet but I'm pretty sure she sent you to kill him (well, be killed by him she was hoping) in the first place lol

OBD Convo #9: The Sith Never Die

What exactly is it that you think that says? Because it says that Malekith defeated them and sealed their source of power. Malekith is the Black Blade, that's his title. Hence when you beat him you get the Rememberance of the Black Blade. He sealed their source of power after defeating them according to the description you just posted, btw. No, their source of power was the Rune of Destined Death, and it was sealed after Malekith defeated them. Malekith only sealed the blade inside his body after Ranni stole part of it later, it had nothing to do with that battle. No, she didn't. She sent Malekith to get it from the Gloam Eyed Goddess while she was still an Empryean, i.e. before she was the actual Goddess. It's literally the only thing she asked him to do. Literally nothing says that. The description you posted says that their source of power was Destined Death, and that it was only sealed after their defeat.

OBD Convo #9: The Sith Never Die

Wrong. The source of their power wasn't sealed away until after Malekith defeated them, at which point he sealed it into his sword. Ranni later stole part of it and Malekith freaked out and stuck the rest into his body. Because again, the game spells out that Marika had Malekith do exactly one thing, defeat the Gloam Eyed Goddess and take the Rune of Destined Death. Which happened well before Ranni or the others existed. We know there were other goddesses, and no indication of their parentage. They could easily be her sisters or relatives.

OBD Convo #9: The Sith Never Die

The Godskin apostles were around before that. They served the Gloam Eyed Goddess, the one Malekith killed and took the rune from in the first place, as his first and only task from his Empryean Marika. Obviously well before Ranni or the others existed. The fact that Ranni coexisted with Malenia and Miquella implies Marika could have easily had siblings or the like who were also Empryeans, who she struck down to become head of the Golden Order.
