To be fair Atreus' development is schizophrenic as all hell in the new GOW He was like the actual worst part of the game up until Kratos kills hillbilly balder where it clicks into his brain that being like his dad and giving into anger and shit is just going to make things worse. Kratos was kinda put in a really shitty position at the end of the game where there was really no right or wrong answer too. If he lets Balder live he's gonna keep coming after him and his son since he won't listen to freya. If he gets rid of Balder then Freya loses her shit. Mans literally can't win. On that note, the scene where he pulls the blades out again but he's putting them to use saving his new family is prob my favorite bit in the entire game. Just accepting all the bad shit he's done and getting the last word in on athena was hella great.
