Not only is it quite telling that they had to "Seal" the Holy Beasts rather than kill them in the first place, which they would have done if they were actually stronger than them, the fact it takes ALL four of them to warp the digital world planet (there is no evidence they warped the whole universe) to make it EASIER to do something that a single Holy Beast can do EASILY doesn't speak well for even universal Dark Masters, let alone multiversal.

OP said that both are permissible, unless there are obvious contradictions I think the visual media is a more accurate representation of events than whatever fan translation of the novel people pull out.
Also a bit disingenuous to call it a different continuity. While a garbage quality adapt in translating the characters to the screen and abysmal production overall, the anime is in fact adapting the novels.

Like I'm sorry but "visuals" as you put them are NOT some minor thing you can brush off. This is an ANIME, it's a VISUAL MEDIUM, so visuals are kind of fucking important. The fact we can see stars in the night sky in the Spiral Mountain arc PROVES that what was warped into the mountain doesn't include ANYTHING beyond the planet, much less making it a universal or multiversal feat.
Nevermind again the Dark Masters > Holy Beast shit that's been contradicted thoroughly throughout the second half of 02. Look I appreciate that the power scale is crazier now and they're trying to retro-actively put it into Adventure, but that doesn't work 'cause what we're TOLD does NOT match with what we are SHOWN, it just doesn't.
