Death Battle Discussion

Yeah I think this is gonna end up being either
A) another cosmology measuring contest (Beerus/Galaxia, Hulk/Broly, Goku Black/Reverse-Flash, Thor/Vegeta, Trunks/Silver, Frieza/Megatron Goku/Superman3)
or
B) "Whatever they're both immeasurably infinitely strong at their peak so whoever has more experience, hax, resistance, and variety of ways to put down the other one wins" (Hulk/Doomsday, Strange/Fate, Wally/Sonic, Batman/Iron Man, Scarlet Witch/Zatanna, Black Adam/Apocalypse, Gogeto/Vegito, Phoenix/Raven, MM/SS, Bill Cipher/Discord)

I feel like they slipped up, it was a missed opportunity for them not to foreshadow it in the Silver Surfer ep earlier this year

I kind of liked the way they handled it, honestly. It did make it less of a surprise, but it also teased and raised anticipation that it would finally be coming. Having both Silver Surfer and Megatron was kind of wetting the appetite and saying "You thought these two were crazy, just wait!" , or at least those are the vibes I got from that.

When Goku vs Superman 3 kind of sealed it. Frankly, the only episodes I could see being big enough to follow-up and take the main event slot from GvS would be either Galactus vs Unicron or Wiz vs Boomstick.

gonna get extremely dumb real fast if they find this book from 2004 that added this shit :skully

Unicron is really weird and most of his feats (other than one) are actually him surviving things for no real reason. For example, if DB does put them at a similar scale, I could see him surviving the UN solely because he literally lives in a void outside all realities that wipes you from existence, and while Unspace is the exact opposite of consistently written, the lore reason for one character surviving there while the other didn't is explicitly because he had a small portion of Primus' power (which is actually the same kind of energy as Unicron's)

It's debatable and super weird to get into but there are a couple of pretty reliable in universe statements and feats regarding Unicron being a threat to the omniverse and not just the multiverse, but they aren't as straightforward as Marvel's cosmic fights are. Transformers tiering is a ton of red string conspiracy theory type shit wherein you can definitively place characters but it takes a lot of legwork.
Interesting. This is definitely one of the most Debatable DBs.

Regardless I hope DB has fun with it and includes all the different versions that they can. I'd love to see Lifebringer, Dread Galactus (when he absorbed a shitton of magic power), etc... and whatever alternate versions of Unicron there are that could be brought in.

Also him dodging attacks from Infinite Zamasu since "fighting someone omnipresent would technically make his speed limitless"
And he did that in base form, if I recall correctly, which just makes the scaling chain even more busted when it comes to speed, than with the Hit thing, and him forcing himself into the future, because that at least took using SSBKK times 10. Nigga pulled off that Zamasu shit while exhausted already, and in what was already his weakest state, at that. :tupac :kobeha

This is an interesting note since there's an instance where (because of Marvel's cosmology on abstract beings) the UN doesn't necessarily erase you from existence in the traditional sense.

When it happened to Quasar in The Infinity War tie in, it basically BFR'd him to Oblivion's realm, that is a purgatory void where every being that's ever been "erased" just floats endlessly in a vegetative state. IIRC Quasar was able to escape the realm by tricking Oblivion so he could escape thereby going back to reality and nullifying his erasure. If they're bringing these two in a mutual environment and Unicron's hit by the UN will they factor in the Marvel's Cosmology rationale and have Unicron BFR'd to Oblivion's realm where he has a chance to resist/escape or will they just shrug and go "whatever erased is erased he'd just be gone now" if they take being bfr’d to Oblivion’s realm as literal existence erasure and if it could work on Multi-Eternity then it is able to erase conceptual beings and could theoretically work on Unicron's true abstract form.

yeah I hope the animation/presentation is fun. Unicron does have multiple forms, although his two strongest ones are actually before he became a robot (both forms look the same, but the second one is weaker because Primus got split off from him, they still dwarf robot Unicron though in power)

Basically he has True Form (100%), True Form (50%), and Machine form, where his power fluctuates anywhere from planet level to multiversal individually (though it’s prophesied even in this form he would eventually destroy every plane of existence)

Ohhh that’s really interesting and could be really funny if they play it that way in the matchup. If it’s a very esoteric bfr then Unicron could definitely find a way out, there is zero question about him and Primus having “omniversal” range, it’s whether their power matches that’s up for debate. Could be a funny “what the fuck is this asshole doing here” kinda moment

Galactus vs Unicron

No idea whose going to win but the planet their fight starts over won’t be the winner

Oh wow they really did bring this match-up back again just to shit on Goku for a third time. At least they're mostly correct now but holy shit this was obscenely pointless. :skully

It was done to tie up all the loose ends with Supes vs Goku 2 / make up for how generally bad it was.

Even I have to commend them for how they went all out on this one. Which means a 4th video on this should never be made period. Because it won’t top this one.

Nah, if anything that's the only part of this that actually irks me. They burned a slot to say "we're still right but it was closer than we said and also we're sorry we dumped on both characters". Which they already said in interviews and shit anyway, so they could have done something else besides revive a dead meme for this video.

Like the animation is great and all but it's also a complete waste of time because they told us their answer twice and this is just them trying to smooth it over. And it didn't need to be smoothed over, just move on. If DB tries to fix every screw-up they've had we'll never get a new match-up again :catskully
