Death Battle Discussion

Hulk likely should have won against Broly if it's true that World Breaker Hulk scales to Skyfather level characters.

Back when the episode happened, WB Hulk had nothing around Skyfather level. And Devil Hulk was wanked and overhyped by his supporters, so IIRC most people here saw Broly's win as legit, even if the reasoning Death Battle used was pretty flawed

I think it's just an outdated result at this point

So realistically I don't buy Miracle Machine scaling for Superman, and I think somewhere I explained why I didn't buy the Infinite Crisis Superman Clash. Without those, most feats are in the Godsphere so they are disqualified. Really I only have the Post-Flashpoint incarnations of DC Characters really going past universal on a regular basis, the only exceptions being Kyle Rayner and Speedsters.

I mean

It should be pretty obvious at this point that this is about as far from the way DB interprets things as possible. They go into multiversal based off fucking powerup multipliers, there's no way they'll take such a conservative stance

Marvel isn't DC, IDEK what the hell is going on in Marvel but even with my limited understanding of PF-DC, They have been using Rebirth stuff and it's different. Even then, they did some just straight up wrong interpretations of stuff. I think Superman as of Infinite Frontier legit beats Xeno/CC Goku, but I dislike how they've scaled DC Heralds because instead of saying "oh they're x-versal" it becomes more clear how ridiculous they are if you just say "They are Godsphere/Monitorsphere level" which puts into perspective how much they're breaking the setting with their scaling.

Also I don't know what the hell is going on with Marvel, maybe they're worse than I think or actually better than my prejudices with scaling Heralds to Cosmics, but DC from everything I did read (Literally everything in Post crisis up to 2008 and bits and pieces after 2008) is, and please believe me, fairly consistent in explaining or justifying or showing the insurmountable gap between cosmics and heralds. The only time a character truly broke the mold was Kyle Rayner, who from the Circle of Fire in 2000 to the end of Green Lantern Volume 3 in 2004 progressively grew more and more cosmic in scope and was outright shown to be superior to the entire rest of the Justice League. Otherwise, everything typically worked out to explain why a Godsphere character could have an issue with a Herald (The herald was in the Godsphere himself or the Godsphere could only rely on weaker emanations, pale shadows of their true self).

Haven't kept up with Marvel in years but they've mostly just been giving characters cosmic powerups, heralds are becoming skyfather level and street levels are becoming heralds

Shit Venom went from street level to herald level and now he's like celestial level after becoming the new King in Black. The story's been this for the past 6 years and people seem to like this stuff so it's probably gonna stick around for a bit.

Really it just makes Venom vs Crona age like milk because DB expected the cosmic stuff to be over with by the end of the year or something. Three/four years later and now they doubled down on cosmic symbiote and Knull is showing up in movies and being built up in the Insomniac game. Which tbf nobody expected this to keep going

I thought Venom would go back to street level to be fair.

Post Crisis DC Heralds get cosmic scaling under special circumstances. Usually it's just a broken piece of hax used at the right time instead of just brute power. I don't know what's up with Post Flashpoint DC, but my gut feeling has always ended up typically more correct than not and my gut feeling tells me the stuff they used to scale Zatana/Raven/Martian Manhunter to cosmic levels recently is not exactly what the comics say.

Infinite Frontier Superman just straight up beat Trigon like it was routine business so he's an exception of course.

You know part of me actually wants to see Popeye be matched up against Superman in a future Death Battle and finally have Superman take his first L to someone for once.

Also I'm willing to take a bullet to the chest for dropping this hot and spicy ass take:

Popeye vs Saitama is not just easily one of the most one-sided stomps in existence ever witnessed on DB, but I actually think it's an even more one-sided version of all these never-ending Superman vs Goku debates.

I'd even go so far as to say Composite Popeye vs Composite Saitama is arguably an even bigger than all three iterations of DB's match-up on Superman vs Goku.

Popeye vs Saitama is Superman vs Goku on steroids gone super saiyan dipped in the yellow sun for a million years.

Okay I was apparently told World Breaker Hulk fought Zeus. This apparently never happened, rather Zeus fairly easily beat a base Hulk.

Dormmy probably wouldn't get it in the actual Deathbattle (since it's a temporary power-up) but I would love for them to discuss the time he was amped by the Cosmic Axis (albeit along with Umar) and defeated Multi-Eternity.

as much as I hate DC Comics beating Marvel Comics I don't think Dormammu has this. Trigon is Godsphere level in his true form.
