Death Battle Discussion

Isn't Giratina literally Multiversal+ and Nigh-Omnipresent in True Form while original Yugioh is Low-Multiversal and Massively Hypersonic or FTL at best?

I am actually kinda skeptical about buying "Multiversal" + Immeasurable Speed Scaling for original Yugioh tbh.

I'm genuinely curious what the crossing point was for when this started to become too mainstream. The term "power-scaler" didn't start to be used derisively until a few years ago. Whenever people would make vs threads of any two characters someone would just post a screenshot of whatever wanked stats their VBW page had, I think this also started around the same time as the Vegeta "He's just a ____ why is he so strong" meme that gets shared around twitter
Powerscaling went from being a somewhat extremely niche and underground nerd hobby in the 1990's and 2000's until the sometime in the mid 2010's when Death Battle and other channels like AnimationRewind played a critical role in popularizing an otherwise terminally online hobby and making it spread and bleed into more mainstream circles in more public online spaces.

And constant memes of anime characters being stronger than other in cross-fictional battles being a daily occurrence literally supports this.

I think on some level it coincided with One Piece exploding in popularity in america the last few years, OP memes in general being huge with that, and a lot of OP related jokes being slandering other characters for being frauds. The genuine scaling aspect was already a huge part of that community so I think that’s how it bled into everything else

Yeah One Piece even has its own subreddit dedicated to powerscaling its own characters, in-universe: https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePiecePowerScaling/

The fact that multiple other popular anime series have their own dedicated powerscaling subreddits helps too:

This is a commonly suggested potential wincon for Chief, here to rain it down.

So basically Chief has two antimatter weapons, the Incineration Cannon and Binary Rifle. They aren't UNSC weapons so he won't have them often, they're also not covenant weapons so it doesn't have the iconic status like the energy sword. They are Promethean weapons, something he only really fought between Halo 4 and 5, and beyond that the Binary Rifle and Incineration Cannon were rare for Prometheans, basically appearing like twice in either of the actual games.

Furthermore, the Incineration Cannon projectile only moves at 48.37-68.90 m/s which Doomslayer can easily dodge. Regarding the Binary Rifle, when aimed at by the rifle, the target receives a bright glare to alert them, so Doomslayer is gonna realize Chief is using some weird weapon. It then helps that Doomslayer also has an energy shield for his chaingun (that can also do damage) which is bad news for Chief because even in the Halo games, Hardlight Shields can resist Binary Rifle shots.

Actually now that I think about it, that also means the Hardlight Shield from Chief serves as a half second defensive roadblock against Doomslayer. It might be able to resist a ballista shot, but once again it's Promethean tech and while more common than the Incineration Cannon and Binary Rifle, still won't be as common as something like the Drop or Bubble Shield he uses a lot more. Doomslayer also has area of effect weapons like rocket splash damage, grenades, the BFG, etc so won't matter.

Furthermore, it's not like 1 gram of anti-matter touches a person and annihilates all 60 kilograms of that person. It annihilates 1 gram and as a chain reaction creates an explosion which mass scatters the rest. The Promethean anti-matter weapons aren't even pure blobs of anti-matter, they're coated with anti-matter, which means a low mass. Realistically the vaporization we see in game isn't the total body being annihilated, it's a small part of the target's matter exploding so hard it vaporizes the rest. The issue that Doomslayer's armor can survive the argent tower explosion and Vega's detonation, kiloton level events. So like ignoring that Doomslayer can just outrun and dodge the Incineration Cannon and detect and block the Binary Rifle with his energy shield, even if they hit he might get a bit of his armor annihilated, but he's so strong the ensuing chain reaction explosion won't do shit to him.

If Doomslayer at his peak is actually multiversal by fighting Davoth at the end of Doom Eternal from what I read...

Then holy shit mates...

Have we officially found the only popular MU involving Master Chief that actually manages to be even more of a laughably one-sided shitstomp than Samus vs the dude in green armor?

Either way...

Can't wait to see Master Chief to die and take that nice big fat L. :dankpepe

Unless Death Battle really resorts to reaching enough to wank Master Chief and make him win with some bullshit reason lol

I think I missed the Halo game where Master Chief tanked nukes, in the versions of the games I played, his body goes flailing across the map any time someone bumps a car into him.

It was a hardlight shield

Also it's not particularly clear which happened first, Cortana teleported him out from the epicenter. She said she used the last of her energy to teleport him out of the ship. Considering the composer core is several kilometers away from the outside of the ship, that's a lot of energy lost if she teleported him out before the blast fully materialized.

Not gonna matter too much when Doomslayer can just BFG Chief, and the tracers would hit Chief from the sides.

@Maddie Can we just all agree that this is the only MC MU to date that's even more one-sided than the most peak version of Samus?

And that this will probably be the biggest and most one-sided stomp in Death Battle history since Superman vs Goku in all three rounds, Popeye vs Saitama, Spongebob vs Aquaman, Star Butterfly vs Steven Universe, The Flash vs Quicksilver, The Mask vs Deadpool, and Omniman vs Homelander?

Also I remember AnimationRewind actually did a Cartoon Fight Club episode of Super Smash Bros vs Playstation All-Stars about 8 years ago:

@10:53 for the Master Hand vs Polygon Man fight.

No prizes for guessing which side stomped and shat over the other HARD.

Ah good times.
