Yeah coincidences like that happen all the time in entertainment, looking back it seems fishy but people forget just how much time it used to take for a project to be done back in the day. For example the whole Zerg copied the Tyranids debacle when the Tyranids pre-SC looked nothing like the Zerg but suddenly after 00s started getting more and more like they are now...B5 and DS9 were pretty much developed concurrently, and given the amount of time behind-the-scenes development takes to get things from concept to ground, there's very little chance there was any actual copying going on. There's been animosity between fans of both over this ever since, but it really was almost certainly a coincidence. Both series play out very differently from that starting premise, regardless, and I'm more than glad we have both.
Sounds like you're early in season 2, then. All of the best stuff is ahead. I definitely recommend getting back to it when you're up to it, if you can stomach just a little more elvishness.
