general tokusatsu feats and discussion thread (including pr and series of that level too)

evolto's monster form was his limit breaker one and strongest, despite his black hole form was considered as his ''final one''

overall, it got replaced by his monster form as evolto's final form

actually, arguably the best series from heisei phase 2 era = so good it's writing/choreo/ost/chars are [power level wise, they are part of the top tiers too]

one of the few kr series from that era, where i ain't getting bored, when i rewatch episodes
Literally the only bad part is that sento's final form looks like Shit and Kazumin's actor got screwed with 2 shitty looking final forms :hestonpls

Everything else is top tier and Banjo has easily one of the best Deuteragonist arcs in all of KR

various calcs from lt123, about various kr heisei phase 1 era series [just to know, those calcs were from almost a decade ago, now with the whole lore power scale of the verse and more advanced calcs, most of those feats just samples and are even stronger by current standards, just posting them, to get an idea of how they look overall]

And I'm done with Power Rangers in Space
Despite the 90's cheese, it's definitely a fitting capstone to the original 4-5 Seasons.
Dark Specter taking 2 Planet Killing Missiles to the face before dying(This was after having a good amount of his energy being drained), Zordon's Z-Wave basically reaching multiple Galaxies and basically purifying or straight up killing everyone else.
And yeah, Ecliptor was a chad from beginning to end, shame he had to die though but sometimes that's for the best and the rest of the villains actually felt like villains even with their jokes.

Gonna start Power Rangers Lost Galaxy now.
Apparently the PR Official Youtube Page skipped RPM and has Dino Charge and Super Dino Charge in their official Playlist.
It's funny because I heard RPM was pretty good for a Disney Season and it ties extremely neatly into Beast Morphers.

the best thing about in space was

that it was mcu endgame, before endgame became a thing = which was so mediocre, but instead, in space final arc was done right = another w for team 90's

Definitely, I actually forgot how ridiculous In Space really got with that and just how everyone was basically getting their asses kicked before Zordon bailed everyone out.

It's even funnier watching Lost Galaxy and easily spotting when they use Sentai Footage...

Just spot when Maya suddenly loses her breasts:oldryoma Girl is too well endowed for it to be impossible to tell when she suddenly becomes a dude like the Sentai footage shows.

And now I'm done with Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy(Xhominid you are going way too fast lol!)
I definitely remember seeing this season a few times but it wasn't never really enough to get into the brain for me for various reasons.
But going through it, I can definitely see why it's well loved.
The characters all very much matter in their own ways and go through their own arcs, so to speak.
The Villain actually goes through one of the most fascinating growths thus far(Even if she ultimately comes a true monster in the process).
There's plenty of original fight scenes done alongside the Sentai so it doesn't feel like it's basically aping the Sentai(which I know is absolutely going to become a problem in other various seasons, ESPECIALLY Samurai and Megaforce, don't remind me, I read this in advance) and THAT scene was definitely the defining moment of Lost Galaxy(Even if it's sorta taken back at the end).

Lightspeed Rescue will be next.

In a side note that I actually found out that will spoil Dino Fury and one of the recent Comic Arcs but Blade probably know because he's Blade lol:
I actually found out that the Morphin' Masters was actually stated ALL THE WAY BACK in Ep. 7 of the original Mighty Morphin' in a throw away line about the resident plot device of the episode and in Dino Fury, it's heavily implied with them being able to give a character a new body, they are the reason Kendrix ultimately survived her fate as well(This also gels with the fact that apparently the Rangers of that Season got depowered, one showed up and literally just gave them back their powers and they created many of the artifacts for the Rangers to be Rangers).
Also fun fact that the latest PR Villain in the Comics is a Rogue Morphin' Master as well. It's pretty ridiculous that it was the apparent latest seasons that are going all in with the mythos of Power Rangers full throttle now alongside the Comics.

not to mention

leo is one of the few red rangers, who 1vs1 the main boss at full power, and won, in the end, after a difficult fight

actually, leo is physically stronger than wes, ngl, leo at full power, has better chances to win against ransik

but overall, from the prime saban era, ransik was tank, and part of the top 10 stronger pr antagonists, at all aspects

Yeah, you are right, need to remember Super-Trakeena had more than enough power to not only move Terra Venture's Main Dome on it's own but keep it flying while she was fighting the entire time. And Terra Venture's Main Dome is still like a size of a City or far more at the least.

they ''lucky'' cuz they still get the large planet+/ftl scale and all, like most pr series

it's a similar case to dbz, where most of the cast benefit from namek saga freeza, for the most part, and the top tiers, who are > or within kid buu's tier

despite

their best feat, without powerscale, being country/continent+ levels, by nappa [you know what i mean], lol

IDK, I don't think it's really "luck" when we end up with insanity like Tommy as the Black Dino Ranger causing a Zord-Dwarfing Tsunami in Dino Fury(Which Queen Bansheera can do herself just trying to finish her returning ritual in LSR) but it's not really seen as anything any other Ranger couldn't do themselves(The leader of that Season well... has what we see him do).
That or the fact the characters can even deal with and fight beings like Serpenterra who can just straight up vape Planets like it's a Death Star as a Zord.

But yeah, I get what you mean. The feats don't pop up all the time but when they do...

And I'm done with Lightspeed Rescue.

My honest thoughts on the series is basically one word: Experimenting.
The biggest example of this is Ryan as for those who have even an inkling of the Sentai Lightspeed Rescue used didn't have a 6th Ranger of any kind, meaning they had to basically go through alot of trouble and make new scenes for this guy and the Ranger Suit at the same time(which lead to his hilarious leaving halfway through because the budget became too much until the last episode to actually morph again). Alot of the other PR Staples was also removed, including the weapons, Zords and otherwise literally being made by humans than by mystical means(While this does help make Mitchell, Fairweather and his group look good, I can absolutely see it being a fucking pain in the ass for the Comics Writers and otherwise to somehow tie Lightspeed Rescue to the Morphing Grid in particular outside of hilariously blatant retcon).

Unlike Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed Rescue DID hilariously follow the plot of the Sentai too much(as did Time Force) and while this isn't a problem now...(Dear God Samurai and Megaforce), it will become a problem later on with the decent changes actually did spice up the series a little more(though it was extremely obvious they couldn't go above Gradienne as she was an absolute bastard even in Sentai Terms, Bansheera barely needed any real tweaking outside of being SLIGHTLY more of an ass... somehow)

The Acting... yeah it was straight shit(Vypra in particular... holy shit, I thought it was a joke and it didn't help that they had her worst acting moment happen a good chunk through the Previously segments.) as it was obvious outside of Mitchell, Fairweather and the Monsters, no one could even remotely act out of a paper bag(They felt way too stilted and for a show like Power Rangers, that hits bad). The characters though was surprisingly decent with good arcs for everyone to actually come off human.

I would honestly say Carter... is okay. He's not a terrible Red Ranger but unlike TvTropes trying to dicksuck Linkara, he felt too... "Normal". The dude is a Firefighter but some of the episodes make him come off as a novice for no reason despite him being a Firefighter. Him using a Blaster constantly is a nice change of pace but I can see why others don't like it and it's funny his Super Mode is basically him becoming a Human Transformer. But other than that, he's no Jason, Wes or even Rocky, he just feels like a typical Red Ranger.

Chad Lee though? I think he's legit one of my favorite Blue Rangers. TvTropes wasn't lying in that the director and others loved the man actually being a truly skilled Martial Artist because they let him WORK. He gets a hell of alot of scenes and story scenes precisely for himself(Even if one is him cheesily falling in love with a Mermaid), even taking down a monster that got the same level of training as him who can just effortlessly throw cars hard enough at buildings to cause them to explode :oldryomaIt's honestly a shame as I don't see many people even talk about him despite how he was pretty much one of the better Blue Rangers.

Alot of the others fly within being okay(Kelsey, Dana) to could be good if they just had more(Joel, Ryan). Ryan in particular was screwed due to being the Titanium Ranger, having to be forcefully ejected out of the group due to costs and barely doing anything of note past bailing out the Rangers like once. This is despite him actually having a pretty good storyline that could have really worked well into him being gone for like 15 years and the sheer change in time that should do to someone who lived 2 different cultures.

And yeah, we had the villains being backstabbers again. Queen Bansheera is basically Grandienne, the Sentai Counterpart who ultimately dies even worse than her Sentai Counterpart did. Diabolico and Olympius basically hate each other and basically brought about their own destruction(though Diabolico is basically a less redeemable Ecliptor). Loki was funny and it was sad seeing how he died basically for a bitch that didn't care for him and it being forced by his best mate at that. And Vypra... really needed to stop talking and take more cues from Scorpina because holy hell was her acting BAD. It really doesn't help she didn't do much either after awhile and didn't even really fight either. She looked damn good though but Scorpina already had that locked.

Basically Lightspeed Rescue isn't one of my favorite seasons or even a decent bar up there but it's okay with a decent amount of redeeming factors.

Next up is definitely alot of the OBD's favorite and I'm honestly on board. The Dante/Vergil rivalry before it truly became a thing and another in the long line of PR actors being in DMC and home of one of PR's best OG Villains, Time Force!

yeah, lightspeed rescue is around 6/10 in quality, it had it's moments but it wasn't that impressive, carter is a good red ranger, just isn't top 10 red rangers material

but, the intro song slaps, too catchy, also, it had some original content by prime saban as well

It could have been better if they really made Carter more of his own person like they do with Wes and give him a real character arc. His actions definitely did make him there but he doesn't have enough to really be memorable.
Still a fuckton better than some of the Rangers after him.

And yeah, the intro is great and the original content was A+
