The connections between Hercules and Sun Wukong are that both are mythological heroes who became enemies with gods, leading to them going on a great quest (Hercules completing his 12 labours and Wukong going on a journey to the West to gather the Buddhist sutras, respectively), that ultimately let them achieve godhood.
Both are also extremely influential and have inspired many characters (notably Marvel’s Hercules and Disney’s Hercules for Hercules and Son Goku for Sun Wukong.
