Being honest, when it comes to Index, if you don’t have the time to read the novels, I’d read the manga. Even with two early arcs skipped and a monthly release, it’s still better than watching the anime.

I guess, but for me at least, with a series you either go (mostly) all-in or you don't.
Like not necessarily reading all the material(spin-offs and the like), just the main stuff, even if it is pretty long.
For me, i don't like the toaru manga cause it skipped angel fall. Which is one of my favorite volumes for Touma's interaction with his dad.
