They skipped out of advertising the game in the recent Tokyo Game Show, a very heavy blow to the marketing, just refunded all pre-orders and delayed the game to next year, in the same month the new Monster Hunter comes out

Again I don't get it at all. Like if they wanted to push the fictional angle, that's all they had to do and that would be fine.
There are plenty of Japanese games that feature Yasuke and he's a Samurai there(Ni-Oh series, Samurai Warriors, Nobunaga's Ambition features him once or twice and even FGO has Yasuke be one of Nobunaga's retainers) but trying to push the fact he was a Samurai in real life is a stretch but as you stated, we know Nobunaga gave him benefits damn near close to it so why not just build off of that?
Even the Yasuke Anime series went with that before going full on fictional. But you know what would be better? Just having him as a side character and not do this shit.
