Not really my perspective, doubly so when its often the unspoken judgment of many that sack these comparatively more fragile fictional characters?True, but using people in real life as the benchmark for fictional characters only really makes sense for fiction that tries to be as realistic as possible. Neither franchise really falls under hard science-fiction or anything like that, and by that metric it is not us we should be comparing them to but their contemporaries in the same genres.
Mark Grayson versus say for example Superboy.
Shinji Ikari versus say any iteration of Raven in Armored Core. Not 621, though. Cause the guy is built different and makes the trauma Shinji went through look like a joke, and he only became a complete ace on the battlefield as a result, despite being a brain in a jar for all intents and purposes.
"I could and would do better, I would respond differently, that's why I'm judging their behavior"
I'm going to compare them to real life, because the comparison to real life is already implied by their message. I have no patience for that kind of voice, ergo my point of view.
