I remember people saying "This is OOC for Vergil" and I'm like "Did you guys forget his childish outburst in DMC3"?
Vergil 100% has a childish side as we see throughout the series and definitively in 5, man is just soaking in his persona but when it gets out... it becomes hilarious.
Yeah anyone who can watch the final scene of DMC5 (either version) and says shit like that is OOC for Vergil is out of their mind.
Or just look at V still trying desperately to seem cool with the poetry and stuff, only to then have to comically run away.
Nero is by far the most mature member of this family.
Or hell just look at this unique combo animation and see how awkward and silly he can be once you get past his chunni exterior.

Fight was long and hard (idk what post nerf looks like), but was really good (for upping difficulty, has its errors, and a good few) and actually tested your capability to strategize and work around mechanics and if you prepared resources for ego use. Used a bleed team of the bloodfiend family (barber in slot 9 though) + kurokumo Heathcliff and Ishamael + Ring Yi Sang + Tingtang Hong Lu. Just barely managed to do a no death run. Only complaint is the cutscene attacks get a bit annoying after a while
Jia Qiu having an ego, being level 90, and Zilu having shin was a flashbang when reading their passives

his fight is honestly kinda shit for the simple reason that if you don't win the clash you lose 40 fucking minutes of your time. Same stupid gimmick bullshit that ruined Dongbaek's fight
it's a slog and the cracks are beginning to show in PM's design with how much unbreakable coin vomit they shit out this canto just for the sake of making it "harder"
if the story for this canto wasn't as good as it was this would go down in infamy as one of PM's biggest flops

Mostly agreeable. Rolls were barely manageable even with using checkpoints to maximize ego gifts obtained and abusing Sanguine Desire to keep up coin power conditionals. Story is great, but giving so many unbreakable coins to the true damage status is a mistake that shouldn’t have been done even in the rupture season
I wouldn't mind it so much if they were clearer about the phase 2 mechanics, which they usually are. Some sort of UI text like it happens in other encounters when something special is coming up. ("Jia Qiu stares at Hong Lu intensely"- for example)
Otherwise you have to manage: Jia's skill, the 4 fucking Mao's he spawns, one of which has 2 slots of INCREDIBLY hard hitting skills that roll super fucking high and one is unbreakable
Hong's status because of insta failure clause if he dies
Your other sinners
EGO resources to win clashes and stay more or less healthy
It's a LOT to keep track of in a fight that takes a long ass time and if you miss those 3 "Answer me" clashes it's basically an unwinnable fight
They definitely could have done a better job communicating his mechanics.
Bro is still fucking peak as a character and skyrocketed to my favorite character in the canto besides Garion (unfair advantage)

Counting Garion is unfair since it’s essentially a cameo of an appearance. But yeah Jia Qiu is the best of the canto so far. Loved his neutral stance in the final room and how he mostly just wanted Hong Lu to speak up. Call it recency bias but I think the massacre flashback blows every flashback short of the league of nine play out of the water in execution
