Because your role is more than that. If you're Town, you would want to send your reads or legacy to players as you'd expect to get killed early. You can send a message. So it's a messenger role which is incredibly useful to exchange reads and even claims without scums knowing. Zero reason not to send it to a sure Town from a Town Ratchet PoV.
