Atleast I don't sense that intent from him here

Remember, he had asked why the indie is not a viable lynch option.
Which to me shows he's measuring a lot of what he does by taking proactive measures over what he thinks he sees. He's actually expressed this prior (reluctance toward trusting certain slots to avoid being pocketed)
