That attack had been given the parameter of “no human can oppose it”. Unless one left the territory of man, one would be smashed to pieces. Not even Fiamma of the Right or Ollerus could have done anything when faced with it.

it's kind of just common sense. we're told how the Holy Right works (it ignores speed, distance, physical strength, blah blah blah) and Fiamma at his strongest with Ollerus still only tied with Othinus

and the narration in NT9 flat out says they'd fail to deal with Gungnir which merely acts as a conduit for a Magic God's power (Othinus gave the lance that conceptual property)

(and Fiamma is also clearly called out by Aleister in OT22 as having approached things the wrong way, which limited his growth, etc)

it has to have some sort of metaphysical cap, no?

of course all this is kind of weird since post-NT Accelerator is clearly affected by Curtana (instead of just nullifying it) which is far lesser in terms of oomph compared to the Holy Right

Yeah no, there's no such limitation stated in those quotes. Plus as you mentioned, Curtana already worked on Accelerator so HR definitely would.

That it would fail against a MG simply seems to be its output cap rather than a metaphysical weakness where it can't harm those beyond human territory.

same difference, really (also I said it's a cap, not a "weakness" per se already)

the people definitively above LPSAD Fiamma (the IT, Aleister, Othinus (and other MGs), Coronzon, Aiwass, etc) are all beyond human territory, logically speaking

it reaches its "limit" there because Fiamma is still in human territory (since he isn't actually using the full power of Archangel Michael)

let's just agree to disagree on this

Not really- one is a conceptual drawback whereas the other is a powercap.

Leaving human territory does not mean anything in terms of actual power- CRC is specifically a normal human and Lilith is just a newborn baby, for example. It just grants them special magic.

Magic Gods are inherently more defensive, HR could not output enough power to put them down. That is not the case with Abyss Crossers and Transcendents, I expect HR to just one shot most of them unless their magic can specifically defend against it like Lilith.

To be more blunt, Fiamma one shots Accelerator because the latter cannot defend against HR and is not as durable as a MG without vector control.

Something I’m curious about. Anyone know if there’s any sales numbers for the ITEM light novels?

They had to have sold well for an anime to get greenlit for it so soon. Especially over complete works like Astral Buddy

I’d imagine Kadokawa is doing this from seeing the potential Mugino and her clique has to be as much of a hit among the more casual anime and manga fans as the Railgun cast is.

Which makes sense. They pretty much are as just a much darker take on the Railgun girls.
 
The fact that it got picked over Astral Buddy is even more egregious when you consider Astral Buddy was a manga and thus easier to adapt. The ITEM manga adaptation is just 13 chapters, so not much to work from that.

And Astral Buddy would have pulled in Railgun fans thanks to it being titled Railgun -and Dream Ranker arc having just been animated.

Also having fan favorite like Kuroko and Shokuhou. And I’m sure Junko would be become a new favorite as well among anime fans.

Really hoping the anime takes off like it did for Railgun

I totally welcome the idea of my Queen becoming a star like Misaka in this fandom

All the events of Old Series Toaru, New Testament, and Genesis Testament have happened within 5 months still

Railgun, Accelerator, Astral Buddy, Dark Matter, and every other short story too that isn’t a flashback by extension
