What tier should Kratos from God of War be now, following Ragnarok?

Math dump. Kinda thought some of the active cross-forum posters *cough* Galaxy *cough* would have posted this stuff already. But not, it's fine, whatever.

Calc 1: Size of Greek Domain

I'm not as confident in the actual DC as I am the mass. Just for the record.

You could use this to get the mass of the flood waters, but I'm still not sure how you would get an energy value that applies to anyone.

I guess you could argue that the storm clouds generated by Poseidon's death had to contain all of that water, and then apply that mass to the KE of moving the clouds. Feels a little wanky, but nothing outright dishonest.

Calc 2: Output of Greek Mini Sun

I actually did this before having a canonical image of GoW Greece to work with, so we'll just scale it down real quick.

76.23616 / 11,587.2766 = 0.00657929922

1.2786493e19 * 0.00657929922 = 8.4126163e16 or ~20 megatons per second

Calc 3:Size of Midgard / Jormungandr

Once again, I'm more confident in the size than I am in any of the DC numbers. That said, I did find in-game support for one of those numbers.

Final Tally

Greece + Olympus: 1.6227002e+21 kg, or ~10% the mass of Pluto

Big Snek: 2.1976744e19 kg, or ~20x the mass of Earth's oceans

Mini Sun: 8.4126163e16 joules, or ~20 megatons per second

So, in other words, his ass remains in the same tier.

IIRC @Papa Nier posted this in a previous thread, dunno if any of it affects anything regarding everything else already posted but it might be worth taking a look at

I could've sworn in-game, Ymir was created in the Ginunngagap between Muspelheim's fire and Niflheim's ice, just like in the original myths, which would mean those two places already existed before Odin did anything. If that's true, even if the stars in the background are real stars, Odin wouldn't scale to their creation, nor would anyone else.

So, the fire and ice of Muspelheim and Niflheim existed back then, just as more primordial forces then they are now.

Ymir's body forged the land, specifically Midgard, according to the lore, but is also responsible for the wind and the sun.

That would be great, except for the fact that we don't know if the sun is as big as our sun. Going off Ragnarok, one could easily argue it is much smaller than ours, given one of the wolves chasing after it is nowhere near big enough for it to be as large as ours. We could argue magic, I suppose, but that would kinda involve headcanon, as nowhere is it stated that Skoll(or Hati, can't recall which is chasing the sun) eat the sun using magic. Just that it chases and eventually swallows it, and at no point does it shift its size to do so, unless I'm missing something. Been a minute since I finished my playthrough of Ragnarok, and even longer since I played the previous game, so I definitely could be missing something there.

I may just go back and play all of them eventually just for the lore. But I don't remember Vanaheim's sun being comparable in size or anything greater either.

Although we do see Niflheim from Muspelheim at the Spark of the World to get an idea of how large a realm would be in God of War. At least, for Norse Gods

You got anything else to add, @Edward Nygma ?
Not really. I didn't see anything to support stars being legit.

I think it's fairly clear that the Sun and moon can change size, or that such magic exists. Hence how the moon of Vanaheim gets temporarily sealed in a palm sized container. But that doesn't confirm how big it was to start with.

The only celestial body we have ever seen up close in GoW is the Grecian Sun, and it is literally smaller than a country. Precedent does not side with these new stars being legit.

The only other bit of lore with some potential (that I can think of) is that all of the heat in the 9 Realms comes directly from Musphelheim. Not sure how that works if Ymir created the Sun. It kinda tracks if you go "Musphelheim ---> Ymir ---> Sun, therefore Musphelheim is responsible for the Sun". But, that feels... pretty extra. I guess any energy Ymir had to spend would've needed to come from Musphelheim.

I think the more likely explanation is that the Norse sun just isn't responsible for any heat. I mean...Alfheim's climate is fairly mild, and it has no sun. It does have a shit load of stars. Which is weird. The Light of Alfheim is supposed to be the only light source in the realm.

If the Sun is literally just a ball of light, that's definitely not a point in favor of it being a real star.

Well @Masterblack06 unless @Stocking Anarchy has something to argue for a higher tier, which hasn't been covered, I think we can remove this from the sticky thread. Looking like Blade was right, like 4 pages ago, when he said again, that planet level Kratos was just a dream.
