No, it's getting into Skull Island, not Skull Island itself. They make that distinction VERY clear. And the Crystals didn't affect Kong just like it didn't effect the MUTOs or anything else that left "Skull Island" and made the journey to Earth. It only just affected the Aircraft making the transition.
