Yeah that's the worst of it, they aren't even a FUN kind of BAD movie, they're just fucking BORING on top of being terrible.

Meanwhile the Prequels (on top of having genuinely entertaining moments) also have goofy shit we could meme like "hello there", Obi Wan telling a drug dealer to home and rethink his life, Palpatine going fucking ham the second he didn't have to keep up the front anymore.

Like Dungeons and Dragons/Snow White and the Hunstman are terrible fucking movies but at least it's entertaining to watch Jeremy Irons and Charlize Theron go full cartoon villains. :maybe
It's simple
The prequels despite there failings had SOUL to it which led to it to being beloved for all these years to come

Meanwhile look at the sequels....
Outside MORE meme and Somehow Palpatine came back what about it that's remotely good let alone will hold up for years to come
What about it that many will come to acknowledge that they were too harsh on it...

Utterly nothing
What memorable characters did it spawn?
Finn? Nothing but wasted potential the character
Kylo? Meh
Rey a character that's the definition of a Mary Sue and one that only shippers and feminist would care about

Overall failure

So I have a question for y'all:

Are there any local theaters around your area in America (assuming any of the other people in this thread I'm addressing are my fellow Yanks)...

Currently in danger of closing due to the following factors:

1. COVID (and its enduring ripples)
2. Inflation (increasing the most depending on your area)
3. Proliferation and surging of video streaming platforms and services?

Or a combination of the above?

Y'all need to look at this: https://www.the-numbers.com/market/

The number of annual ticket sales in the United States all used to be above the baseline of one billion before 2020, peaking at over a billion and a half in 2002 and 2003...

In 2020 it dropped by over a billion less tickets for the first time to just 200 million...

And it took two years for it to be just over half a billion and we have still yet to go back to reaching the 1 billion tickets threshold.

Let that sink in.

Well makes sense, besides Covid closing theaters for a while, there just is not much worth seeing at all in this day and age because almost all big budget films are trash.
