Circus of Humorous & Humiliating Arguments Part 4 Part 2: Electric Boogaloo

I generally hate dnd debates, cause every time it feels like they wind up arguing raw/rules/mechanics rather then straight forward feats. Now I think a lot of that comes down to some bad faith arging but I just never have the energy to much more then glance at them.

Scaling gargantua is weird, it has the highest physical stats amongst the guardians but due to it's lack sapience/intellect it's also considered the easiest to beat among them. This gets even weirder when you consider how intellect would affect characters in game...Like none of the npcs had an sapience/all functioned off programming so why did lacking intellect affect it's combat rating there? As with everything in overlord when you get to high tiers you reach this weird area where nobody can one shot each other/everyone starts scaling to each other. Ainz is able to cast in between being hit by high tier warriors/isn't overwhelmed even when he gets into melee as a pure mage. Shalltear is strong enough to casually bat aside hits from a raid boss ect.] I suspect a lot of this id due to overlords literal interpretation of health mechanics meaning even if your taking huge damage you can just keep attacking/fighting but it also means it's really hard to measure how much damage...

One thing I find funny on space battles, is the user lost paragon, he hates overlord so much he's written a massive fic just so he can have konosuba characters and mha characters destroy nazarick. But his hatred means he hasn't read/touched overlord properly in years thus he just gets shit wrong/doesn't know what he's talking about anytime nazarick denizens, items or mechanics are present in the story. (He thinks ainz gave shalltear her dress/seems to think ainz was involved in her creation and seems to think the book of the dead is a world class item that required evil karma to use) Im honestly jealous in some ways, I wish I had that much sheer creative spite to write for four years to fulfill my revenge fantasies against characters that don't exist and can't even properly remember.

I wish they put overlord on the list, the varieties of death hax and death hax immunities in overlord would make harry potter shit itself. (Along side the number of resistance abilities/immunities)

Im working on the respect thread but funny note going through the novels I always forget. Ainz original world had helemts for going online that recorded essentially everything you did. This was considered a necessary safety feature as you connected to computers via a neural implant (ainz literally has a port in the back of his neck he hooks into his computer) . Meaning hackers wouldn't try to hack your information, they will literally hack your body and use it to commit crimes. So the helmet was a sort of defense since they could tell exactly what you were doing while your body was used as a puppet to commit crimes.

Correction twelve people my bad From overlord volume 1 page 27: The four-colored crystal lamps on the ceiling were a type of monster, and the moment an enemy entered their range, they would summon high-ranking elementals of earth, water, wind, and fire, in addition to bombarding them with area-of-effect attack magic. If these crystal lamps all attacked at once, the firepower they unleashed could easily defeat two parties of level one hundred Players, which would be roughly twelve people.

Yeah what I figured I imagine if they had realistic values vs player damage a lot of dungeon masters would get really annoyed, really fast

Isn't the only reason stone/structures are that tough in the first place so players don't just break through walls/ignore dungeons?

Fair I never made such a claim. I mean I thought you figured this out when I pulled the statement of the author explicitly stating the entirety of the world could turn against them and still couldn't win. Or the fact the tomb stomped a group of 1500 entities on ainz level. Or when you heard they had several chandeliers that could wipe 20 level 100 players.

TBF thats the bare minimum it takes to overcome his innate damage nullification. Though health in overlord is pretty weird in of itself. I literally have no idea how much "Damage" a high level character takes to kill.

Someone using stone walls to argue overlord characters are far tougher then dnd characters is a new one for me not gonna lie. https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/faerun-vs-the-great-tomb-of-nazarick-dnd-vs-overlord.1156492/post-100550971

IM WORKING ON IT THERES A LOT TO GO THROUGH D: There are sixteen novels, 12 cannon audio dramas, a 2 part prequel/intro released with the anime, a what if novel, and a bunch of side material the authors released exclusively in japan that never got fully translated. (Im still looking for the world of 2138 booklet that was released alongside some overlord event that goes into detail about the world ainz comes from) And the authors kinda a jerk who randomly drops things in one off sentences you'll never hear about again. Edit: how should I include qoutes/sources?

Random overlord fact time the author directly ripped off bags of holding, even the weight it negates. From the vampire princess of the fallen country: Put it all in this rucksack. It’s a magic item that can ignore up to 500 kilograms of weight. This is despite also giving all the characters from the game world mystical inventories of ludicrous size. (Only characters/creatures from yggdrassil get inventories as well, peasants/godkin/anything from new world has to carry there shit the old fashion way) Also the way it's described makes it seem like the weight function wasn't actually that useful to player, as ainz states they were mostly used just to organize inventories.

Generally on vs forums there seems to be the assumption that the opponents won't run away/flee the fight which kinda does away with herbivores natural reluctance to fight/endanger themselves. Don't know why they assume natural order/instincts would matter. Like If we didn't assume characters would fight to the death a lot of fights would wind up inconclusive/end in one guy running tf away. (looking at ainz if you read his fights 90% time he has a portal/tp spell ready and the thought in the back of his mind he should be ready to run)

Ive always been curious if negative energy and cursed energy are similar enough to call them the same thing/rule 13 them. AS both are evil energy born of despair anguish and death that give rise to evil creatures. I think for the sake of a fair fight they shouldn't be but logically they always seemed rather similar. The issue imo is if you rule they're the same undead overlord are rather advantaged by it. As they don't use there negative energy in most of there attacks/abilities (they use mana or skills) and are actively healed when hit with negative energy based attacks/abilities.

Fun overlord fact when zesshi met mare in volume sixteen she noticed something rather humorous. That being that mare didn't make any sense to her. Mare would apologize/act nice as he tried to bash her skull in, and more she could sense that mare simply didn't care about her. She descirbes it as him feeling almost like a puppet. To her it felt like mare was something gross, something not real/not right. A creature contradicting itself in ways that don't make any sense. This is essentially the author lamp shading the fact the npcs are inherently not realistic people, they're amalgams of their creators personalities/desires, and whatever fucked up backstory was written into them. Mixed with Yggdrasil mechanics. They contradict themselves because that's how they're written within the context of there own universe. Zesshi is one of the few people to pick up on this bizarreness/otherness presented by the npcs and it's pretty humorous to hear her inner thoughts during the battle as she...

Circus of Humorous & Humiliating Arguments Part 4 Part 2: Electric Boogaloo

Overlord fact time, on average one beast man is about ten times stronger/more physically capable than humans which does lead to me wondering what function humans serve in the minotaur kingdom where they're kept as slaves. It seems weird to make use of slave labor thats going to be ten times less effective at any physical task. Though perhaps they fill other roles/the fact they're essentially free labor makes up for the lack luster physicality? It makes more sense with the beast men kingdoms/troll kingdom because they don't use humans as slaves, they're more akin to cattle/game that they hunt/eat.

Where did I wank ainz? I stated what type/level of regen ainz instant death hax have bypassed with quotes. You know I get the sense you just hate overlord and thus any explanation of the series with quotes is wank and you hate it. I literally posted qoutes about trolls coming back from being reduced to hamburger meat, about the fact ainz states they'd recover from being minced and ainz instant death aura bypassing it. And I do consider it a decent level of regen as its in the "This is complete magical bullshit category" Like tell me where was the wank? I even note crazy/more over the top forms of regen would bypass/be fine. Like what do you want quotes for, Im wiling to hunt back through the novels to support my point if you let me know. But if your issue is me calling it a decent level of regen...I guess It's just a difference of opinion? If it's the soul eating... I suppose any form of regen that lets you regrow your soul would bypass it, I was more thinking within the...

Your assuming I didn't take them into account when I literally listed feats these characters pull off? I think you need to lie down/jump off the computer for a bit. (Wolverine was who I was thinking of when it came to ash.. Though The image that popped into my head was more the time he came back from a drop of blood. Even if that was a bit context specific with the whole crystal thing. I know dead pool has pulled off the ash thing) Fair enough on categorization, it just feels strange to consider it the same thing to me but in the end it's fiction so most lines we try to draw with arbitrary abilities like this are kinda pointless.
