Rugrat would have had to claim anyway with the mass claim. The only real criticism you could put on him for that would be that he could have anticipated that his shot would be messed with and held fire, but I think it's a little unfair. His main mistake was shooting Doddsy. I think it's easy to forget as well that Mafia had lovers. If those died early that's 2 scum lost and if the JoAT was caught they'd be outgunned (the Mafia complained in their chat about the extent of their power). I think I tend to agree that this game was more everything going wrong for town that could go wrong - early mislynch, duel not being used to kill scum but on an extra vote, modkill, walking into an execute, misvig, and the choice to take out the Serial before Mafia.

Yeah I'm familiar with him - he was on TMF. Seemed fairly normal and then went batshit. TMF had all the crazies to be honest.

In my experience it's usually when there aren't many girls that it tends to be any sort of issue. On Worstgen where there are a fair few, the Mafia section I believe tends to be *fine* (there are certain exceptions, such as an undue level of focus on certain players, I'm not blind to it). Back on OPB where there were maybe 3 girls who played Mafia there ever. OJ too, I remember once being hit on by a guy there who thought I was a girl, his line of choice was "I don't usually go for girls who refer to themselves as ratchet..." It's not surprising given the nature of the shared hobby I suppose. I think also some girls on those sites, because they were in a clear minority, played into it a bit because they liked the attention they got from some people. Mostly harmless as I said, though having a slam dunk scum case and having it be rebuffed with "she wouldn't do that" will never not be aggravating to me.

Ah, unfortunately Anime Forums tend to be full of them, and it always ended up extending to Mafia. Most of the time in fairness it was mostly harmless - not scum reading or pushing girl users, giving them preferential treatment with roles etc. In the extreme cases it's er, quite a bit worse lol.

Yeah but what I'm saying is, in this case claiming early would have taken what control I had over my wincon completely out of my hands, precisely because I needed both Lyncher and Survivor. Similar things like this have happened and then the person says "you shouldn't claim as Indie" so part of me wanted to establish that it doesn't really matter whether I do or don't. I have my whole rant about it in the dead chat but it feels like whenever I get these roles I may as well just stop playing.

I feel like the same outcome would have happened anyway, and as Lyncher I would need the ability to sway the lynch too. I wouldn't usually claim as a Lyncher or a Savage Indie, precisely for that reason (if I was a straight up Lyncher, I'd probably fake evidence against the player I'm trying to get lynched). Given that I needed both, I would have had to claim Survivor only and hope that my target would be scummy enough to get mislynched - its it's very unlikely. The host felt I should have just claimed Vanilla and pretended to be Town.

Thanks for the game, Poyser. GG, think scum deserved it overall though it was a weird game in which town had the game figured out and just didn't quite make the right decisions together. @Flower I was surprised to see you claim my role was Hostile despite me having no abilities. Lyncher tends to lean slightly against the town but once claimed it leans more into pro town because it provides a free clear any lynch I get would be either when Scum are about to endgame and want me onside, or if town happen to be so far ahead they can afford to give me my win. Otherwise it was a classic neutral indie with the survivor.

My thought was maybe she wanted to be seem to be on it but her invite and expectation that it was majority actually makes sense. Does mean she's more willing to be co operative than expected though, she's usually quite stuck in her reads. So might be something there. I have a feeling RDK flips town here so that's something for you to pick up tomorrow.
