Circus of Humorous & Humiliating Arguments Part 5: Diamonds are fleeting. Stupid lasts forever

I gotta admit, I enjoyed Cross Ange, corny AF as it was

You could tell it was made by the director for Seed from a mile away

:hestonpls

Yeah, DxD had a lot of plot to it

:maybe
If you remove the R18 part, DxD has one of the best world. There is a reason why DxD has so many fanfic. And I like Issei. Anime butchered him character a lot.
That’s why in my early days, whenever i saw a DxD fanfic where the author kept Issei as just a horny teenager and removed everything that was good about him, I immediately quite the fic. Especially the Self Inserted Shirou or Naruto fanfic where they portray the two as saint who have no dirty thoughts despite their own series contradicting them. Saint Shirou would always make me vomit.

Honestly, I like Touma a lot more than Shirou. It’s not that Shitou is a worse written character but something about him never hooked me. As if there was something of his character that I didn’t like subconsciously, whereas Touma I liked very much just for the Typical Hero type character. I felt it was done right.

For me, Touma and Priest from Forsaken Preist of the Hero Party are someone of few character that I like very much. Klein being at the top of course.

Though F/SN Visual was top tier for me. I watched anime first, the Orignal and like it so much that I jumped to the Reddit -> found there is a VN -> YT it is. Though watching others play is a bit annoying.

For those who expertise in Type-Moon, @Xhominid The Apex , @ChaosTheory123 : How strong are dragons. I read from wiki that they are the top dogs of Phantasms Species what it got me wondering where they scale. Of course I know that even under dragon we have major ranges.

I was reading a DxD x Nasu fanfic: https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/pilgrimage-of-heaven-fgo-dxd.1043352/
This one shares a shared setting and a discussion came of Where does Fafnir scales to two Dragon of Longinus

Also, I am a bit disappointed that a devil whom Hades acknowledged to have surpassed the Orignal Lucifer got done by Saint George. In a straight Vs, I can understand by in a mixed setting where DxD seem to be working in Nasuverse rule😑

It's as Qinglong stated:
Weakest of the weakest Dragons are City Tier but that tends to basically not even count most of them. The Average Dragon is literally Country-Tier as Extra/CCC states, Fafnir is stronger than the Average Dragon so you could push it to Continental, Melusine/Albion's Left Arm is easily Planetary+ and we have no clue where True Albion stands at.

Issei can join Touma and Shirou for MCs that get their depth poorly portrayed by their anime adaptation

Toonami was my first exposure to anime, so shows like DBZ, Sailor Moon, and Gundam Wing were among the first anime I watched

I hate it when a series has a whole cast of interesting side characters and factions and doesn’t use them enough over the main characters

Sure but on the other side of the coin, I also hate it when members of the MAIN CAST of a series are treated like shit, even in comparison to actual side characters.

It's a question of striking a balance between having the main cast be the stars of the show that they should be, while ALSO letting the side cast shine.

It's the verse of wasted potential, in my opinion.

It would've gone to an excellent work from the decent it is now, if Ishibumi worked more on background characters and less on Issei.

He kinda screwed himself with lack of ambition of all things. DxD was supposed to end around volume 11-12.

It got popular enough they wanted him to keep going, so he started expanding out. But now he's got the Gremory group he spent the entire original planned run developing, who are the reason the show got popular, and he can't just leave them out of it while dealing with other factions.

Which is why the story kinda meanders until they focus on fightijg Quilpoth. And then it happens again with the weirdly handled tournament arc.

Ishibumi keeps outrunning his own storyline. It's something of an in-joke that the reason the hiatus has lasted this long is that he's writing like five years out in case the series gets extended again :skully

Tensura:- Author wrote the game (Isekai Memories) character so much better than main cast that she won popularity poll by a major margin, had people sending petition to Author for somehow including her in the anime (just a small cameo) as well people publicly sending message about learning a bit from his own Side stories and not glazing the main cast as much. He ruined the entire Tena War arc. The popularity took a good dmg, the subreddit and discord are not the same after Tenma War since the the actual story didn’t even live upto a margin of the hype. I myself have given up as well, haven’t read past Eastern Empire Arc except learning what happens afterwards from Discord

To be fair though, the starting volumes were genuinely great.

DxD does have a great world in theory- every religion being true with its own gods, the dimensional gap, the Great War, the Sacred Gears, the Dragons, the Fallen, the Evil Pieces. It had so much potential.

Even the cast was great, the romance with Rias, Asia, and Akeno was excellent and had actual depth. Plus, villains like Riser, Kokabiel, even Hades and Rizevam were pretty decent.

By the later volumes, the Devils are practically the strongest faction and the world revolves around them, Issei is catching harem members like a checklist of tropes with the Chosen Heavenly Breasts, the other pantheons are barely explored, and ExE ruined perfectly good world-building by having a rando one-shot Great Red.

Wasted potential, I tell you.

True.

Another was Mondaiji, but this was more of : the series being axed before reaching conclusion. Otherwise, Mondaiji was so much focused on its world building that at times one has to wonder if the story was more about little garden as a whole and not problematic trio. The world building is soo good that I have yet to come across same level of world building in any setting that has remained consistent as well. Also, author was Nasu fan so the slight in between cameo and teaser were fun as well.
