Been reading Void Rivals and Image's new Transformers #1, both are good. Latter is probably the most accessible jumping on point in Transformers history. Void Rivals is a cool scifi comic by Kirkman that ties into the Transformers material.

Also read some of Barry Windsor Smith's Monsters though I haven't finished it.
