What we should've gotten with Kratos vs Thor, round 2.They went way too hard on the 'grounded' angle for the new GOW games. Ragnarok really should've gone back to the days of old, when it comes to spectacle.
Can you imagine round 2 of Kratos and Thor, where at first we have control, but then after the first phase, which sees some scene transitions and hefty damage done to Asgard, we then switch over to Atreus' gameplay, and through him, we see Kratos and Thor battling it out in the background, tearing everything apart like absolute savages, as merely an after-effect of their battle, as we do our thing with him, before switching back to Kratos again, for the second phase of the Thor boss-fight, which could've been even wilder.
I mean, come on, they already had a lore piece in the previous game where Thor's and Jorm's clash sent the latter back in time, so why not have Kratos and Thor clash, mess up the world tree in the process, and send them flinging across every other realm as a consequence, which they also mess up a good deal in their wake, before ending up right back in Asgard again, by or near the end? It's the finale of the Norse saga, after all. Why not go as big as possible for it? Why hold back then, of all times?

I’d use that Time Machine to also go back to 2004 and prevent Jason Rubin from hiring Neil Cuckmann and have Naughty Dog stick to fun platformers and racing games more too.
I think they should've just aged him up into a young adult, instead of a teenager. Already went through dealing with annoying boi Atreus in GOW 4. Would've been way better, if they'd made him fully grown, and skipped all that cringe teen dialogue they tried, with African Angrboda, in that god awful and tediously long section in Jotunheim.I do agree Ragnarok was disappointing just to be clear, though my issue with Kratos' characterization in that game is more that he's way too passive than anything else, with Atreus and Freya pushing the plot forward more than anything else.
Doesn't help that I never really came around on Atreus (I did like Freya though), I still think he's annoying and Santa Monica are several levels of delusional if they think they'll ever get away with making GoW game focusing on just him with no Kratos.
Devil May Cry remains the only one of these stylish action series that successfully introduced and built up a potential new protagonist that I could actually play an entire game as without complaint.
Nah, keep him around until TLOU 1 is made, as that was a good, if overrated, game.
