It may be taking more influence from V (and even some souls stuff) but it's still very clearly AC at its heart. Besides I've been waiting a decade for this game and I don't have time to be disappointed.

I'm watching MauLer's review of Ant-Man: Quantamania and I honestly just realized something again...

Remember that newly formed trope that TvTropes will never add but we know is true called "The John Walker" effect where the villains end up not just more engaging but more heroic than the heroes?

MauLer actually brings up a damn good point that for all of the hideous CGI and missing the very point of the character, MODOK of all people was able to ultimately go through the heroes' journey from an evil but thin(in terms of layers) villain of Ant-Man 1 to becoming psychotic later on in that film, goes through a breakdown of not knowing who he is and upon getting a(terribly done) pep talk, goes and sacrifices his life to save the Multiverse and countless timelines...

The worst part? The Commentary(which has the Director and Main Writer) states outright that MODOK was never meant to be liked and the heroes explicitly hate him and treat him like a nobody even in death.

Like holy shit, let's not even get into how this makes them look even worse than people bitch about the DCEU Heroes for but it just really proves that Hollywood seriously needs to stop hiring fuckers who have no goddamned credit for making movies(Literally)

yeah i saw that one to and i agree. dont get me wrong, i havent seen the movie, cause i lost interest in antman after antman and wasp.
but seeing the smal tidbits of modok in the movie and,as you say, seeing his hero journey or redemtive comeback, it actually made me feel. but yeah its a shame that the redeemed former villain, choosing to sacrifice his life and dare to take back his identity with his name and his agency, before he died.

but yeah, paul rudd and kang is carrying that movie. holy shit. the daughter is just the worst, with her forced reactions, forced upon "strong female character" moments (like that speech? fucking hell), underused legacy characters and just...man it bombed.

also yeah, kang got the kylo ren treatment. got defeated in his first movie live action appearance so why should we be scared of the other kangs? they didnt even kill anyone of relevance yet.

yeah damm
he needs a w, come on.
you can only be a comedic punching bag for so long
