Also people had high hopes for that Cartoon and it got shattered before it ended.
That shit was getting praise a lot early part of the story.
So yea the hate is probably really high too considering how big the drop is.
Let me know if/when you get to it!I will, in a few days, when I have more free time. Got a lot of stuff going on right now, on my end.
The creators tried to claim Steven never forgave the Diamonds too. They did this by...having Steven be mad at White Diamond in his thoughts once, and then never showing or saying anything along those lines again.Steven Universe was well liked at the start and absolutely fell into the ground hard by the time Steven was forgiving the Diamonds and then went dead into the Earth by the time of Future.
The fact that people tried to defend Future was all levels of stupid as hell because the premise was fine but the execution was horrible. Hell, what Future did? Venture Brothers did SO much better and so much more realistic too(Why didn't Steven just see a fucking psychiatrist? And when did he show any of what he did with the Gems fucked him up mentally at all before Future?)

His only time being negative towards them was in Future (he'd already met them in the movie and the end of the series, and even the other Crystal Gems who'd had direct attrocities by the Diamonds commited against them personally didn't say anything about them (that I recall). Everyone was totally chill with the Diamonds, who did a total 180 in personality to the point that it was embarrassing to watch....HUH?!
Bro, how the fuck does that make sense?! Steven never seems remotely angry with them or anything showing negativity, the fuck?
That also reminds me reading this shit on TvDopes that Greg was a "Neglectful Parent towards Steven" and it's like WHAT?!
Nigga never had a chance to raise him as the Gems kept him away from Steven, the fuck do you mean he's neglectful? This is like saying the father was neglectful because the mother was granted sole custody.
Absolute clownshoes. The dude was there for Steven as much as he could be and then some.

Also...
>Greg
>Neglectful
The man was living out of a fucking van and still stood by his son. He's one of the few characters who was still likable throughout the whole series because of this.
Believe me when I say all of the WOG retcons made it worse...much worse.I remember seeing that shit and it was absolutely embarrassing. I remember so many people got pissed off that they got let off easily(and they did) and Future's attempts to make it seem like that's not the case... didn't help at all and just further showed they got let off way too easily.
I can't remember the details, but Future just made it even worse. It's revealed that Greg came from a super strict background and had a very unhappy childhood (music wasn't allowed in his house), so when he finally gets free of all that as an adult, he wants his own children to be much happier and more free (Greg also sends them a bunch of letters, which they never opened). This makes Steven mad because he'd never had the chance to do normal kid stuff like go to school or to the doctors (made worse by Steven going to the doctors at least once in the show IIRC, and going to school in the secondary canon comics), and he crashes the car and then deletes Greg as a contact on his phone.Apparently not in Future, where Greg is one of the people to be blamed because "He was neglectful to Steven" despite the Gems being the main reason Greg couldn't see his son more often than not(primarily because they still blame HIM for Pink Rose's death) which is again, bullshit.

No I'm not making any of this up.
Will do.Let me know if/when you get to it!

How did someone unironically write this and think it was a good idea to animate and release it? That shit is just terribad on so many levels. Why didn't the writers just have a full-on fight where Steven and the gems take down the diamonds to end the show, since they were clearly set up to be evil, civilization-destroying dictators? And you can't tell me it never crossed their minds, as a few of the niggas involved in the show had watched and were fans of DBZ, so they'd definitely have known the formula. Was Rebecca Sugar just that far up her own ass or something?
This is the same people that says goku is a bad father. when dude literally was together with Gohan every time he was alive or not in a hospital or stuck in some alien planet....HUH?!

Team Four Star will forever have my middle finger for popularizing the myth that Goku's a bad father. If man wasn't dead, suffering from many injuries fighting serious threats, or forced to be off-world for a while, based on what we saw, he would've been with Gohan almost 24/7.This is the same people that says goku is a bad father. when dude literally was together with Gohan every time he was alive or not in a hospital or stuck in some alien planet.
Literally if you watch early dbz Goku literally took Gohan everywhere. Even After the frieza Saga and during the Cell Saga when Goku came back we never see him and Gohan really apart.
Adventure Time had lots of zany shenanigans in a fantasy at least. SU was infamous for ignoring it's interesting and potential-filled world building in favour of filler that goes nowhere. And characters who did end up more interesting ended up getting shafted in favour of more townie bullshit. They even prioritized shipping that explicitly went nowhere over actual big questions they never answered. No wonder people just forgot about this show. This is honestly such bullshit to basically pretend nothing in the show mattered at all and the Diamonds did nothing wrong meanwhile Greg was somehow a bastard because "Gotta make Steven angst when he never really angst in the show outside of his mom".
Like even Adventure Time is still remembered to a decent extent as is Regular Show, Steven Universe barely exists anywhere outside of R34 memes with Greg.
Even if they wanted a redemption arc, they could have done it way better (redeeming an evil character when done well can be fascinating, though needless to say SU failed utterly with the Diamonds).

Honestly bout true I hardly hear anyone talk about the show beyond porn these days or mock how the diamonds got away with itNo wonder people just forgot about this show.
