Cyberpunk: Edgerunners - Madness is being written by Bartosz Sztybor of CD Project Red. So yes, like literally every single other Edgerunners title ever, this is canon to the games and the further RPG universe.

A new announcement about New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt (including new information) will be unveiled on Christmas Eve (the anniversary of when PSG ruined Christmas).

Good to see my stuff getting referenced again! I always like getting second opinions on if something is legit or not (I thought for a while it was at least legit to scale Ryuko after she breaks out of her Lifefiber World, though ).

KLK If is canon yes, and it always has been. Mako & Senketsu being able to break into Ryuko's world in the show further backs this up.

Some of this though I'll have to look into (like the Primordial Life Fiber being made of universes). I hope to rewatch KLK next year, so I'll look more into that (maybe I can track down some of the commentaries too)...

Now ain't this something to look into in the New Year... There's a special audio drama for Space Patrol Luluco that comes with the special edition blu-ray, that consists of four episodes. The fourth episode, "I'm from a dimension," is the infinitieth episode, and focuses on Alpha Omega Nova & the Blackholien when they disappear into the blackhole; not only that, but there is another alien called the White Hole Alien (Whiteholien?).

"FINAL SEASON EPISODE ∞. Disappearing into the other side of the black hole with the Black Hole Alien..."

  1. Is there anything supporting that Life Fibers/Kamui's can remove toxins from their host? I saw someone on VSB mention that and I can't find the source for the life of me.

  2. Is the 110 Millions Cannonball Serve (episode 2) ever mentioned in the Kill La Kill Guidebook Kamui Bansho? Or any other Kill La Kill guidebooks?

1. It vaguely sounds familiar, but I'll have to rewatch the series again to make sure (which I should do so sometime soon).

2. I'll have to check my copy of the guidebook again (though I'm sure it would).

Neither are real answers sorry, but I'll have something solid for you soon.

An interview with Hiromi Wakabayashi, Hiroyuki Imaishi & TeddyLoid (who made the music for Space Patrol Luluco) make reference to the Big Bang which went off inside Luluco's head when she first fell in love (as a note, the Blackholien prepares for such an eventuality with Alpha Omega Nova, and makes sure a blackhole will detonate in Alpha Omega Nova's mind should such a Big Bang ever occur in his own mind; Fly Away is a song from PSG, which TeddyLoid also composed).

Teddy : Usually I record the main vocals and then some choruses, but this time I recorded about 20 different takes. He said, "I think this song can be sung in many different ways, so can I send you a few?" and sent me a few takes, so I did a detailed edit, swapping out the parts that sounded good here and here. (Pointing to the materials) This catchphrase "My first love, big bang" was great and it really stuck in my head. I wanted to create a big bang feeling as music, but the order was for a "relaxed song" (laughs). I thought about that in my own way and this song came to mind.

The self-remix is a homage to "Fly Away"

Before the official route through Wakabayashi Agency, Teddy sent me a song asking, "Is this how it is?" and I thought it was exactly what I had imagined, so I couldn't resist and immediately tried it on the main footage. I tried it on the first love scene in episode 2 ("A New Student Has Come!"), and sure enough, it was perfect. I thought of it as the theme song for when Luluco has her first love and has a big bang, so I made sure it would appear in every scene related to their love. I also used Teddy's remix ("Pipo Password (Luluco on SILENT PLANET Remix)," which will be included as a coupling track on the single), this time in the scene where Nova falls in love with Luluco (episode 12, "Confession"). I took this remix to be a homage to "Fly Away," the insert song from "Pantyhose," so I knew I had to use it in the main story.

The lovey-dovey speech from Luluco & Alpha Omega Nova was animated by Kiznaiver character designer Yoneyama, and it was thanks to Yone that the two young lovers were able to visit the Kiznaiver planet.

In the final episode of Luluco, the lovey-dovey speech scene between the two was done by Kiznaiver character designer Yoneyama-san at the last minute. It was a wonderful scene where cuteness and coolness coexisted! By the way, it was thanks to Yone-chan that the two were able to travel to Kiznaiver planet. Thank you!
The end of Space Patrol Luluco actually does feature the Kiznaiver planet, and Lalaco Godspeed stealing a kiznaiver (which given kiznaivers are a genetically inbuilt method of sharing pain, is quite impressive).

Kiznaiver-planet-2.png
What's more, Luluco & Alpha Omega Nova are shown to have a cameo in the final episode of Kiznaiver as well (if this is tied in with the Kiznaiver planet or if this is a different journey to the Kiznaiver universe itself, not I'm not sure).

Don't miss this big bang-level first love story of Ruruko, a "super ordinary" middle school girl who lives in OGIKUBO, the galaxy-designated space immigration special zone...

Hiroyuki Imaishi made art for each of the Space Patrol Luluco audio dramas (which I eventually plan on tracking down).

I really liked Luluco's drama CD, so I'll give you an image of each episode. First, episode 0.5

Another image of the Blu-ray bonus drama CD. It is the assumed episode 8.5. Since Midori is the main character, Usa-san made the title logo even though I didn't ask him to, but it was left unused as a subtitle for the drama CD, so I borrowed it this time. The main story is just Mayumi Shintani.

The last image of the drama CD included as a bonus with the 9/14 Blu-ray. This episode is supposed to be episode 13.5. It's also a good one to smile at.

A partial translation of the first Space Patrol Luluco audio drama, following Lalaco's transormation into the space pirate queen! At one point, Lalaco was killed by the Space Mafia, went to Hell, but then came back again (as someone in Hell asked her to leave).

SEASON 0 EPISODE 0

Begins with Lalaco narrating and describing herself as “a super normal and down-to-earth lady that you can find anywhere”, along with her family background and goals, saying she has been living normally and plans to keep on that road.

L: That was the plan, but…

K: THIS IS SPACE PATROL! I KNOW YOU’RE FRIGGIN’ HERE! COME OUT!

Keiji
comes crashing into her house looking to arrest her mother, Lilico. He begins shooting like mad and Lalaco is dazzled by this, going “What’s with this guy? There exists such a whimsical lifestyle as this?! He’s totally insane!”
Then Keiji rambles a bit about freedom, introduces himself as

K: I’m Keiji, people call me ikaretension Keiji. Y’are?
(portmanteau of ikareteru = insane, + tension)

L: Lalaco. A normal Lalaco.

K: Lalaco, I see…

He makes a short pause and Judgement Gun Morphes, telling Lalaco to ride on him and shooting up. Lalaco narrates that “I was driven insane, by this insane man who suddenly crashed into my normal and boring life”

L:
What I was looking for was this lifestyle! Like you, not giving a damn about the rest and getting all the things you want into your hands, living freely!

K: WHA? I DON’ HEAR YE!

L: You’re insane as hell! Keep it up, crash into the ends of space!!

K: GRAB ON TIGHT!!

Then Lalaco narrates “We married insane, moved to insane city Ogikubo living an insane life where each day we played between life and death, and on an insane night, Luluco was born. We were insane as hell! I thought that this super insane everyday would go on forever, but…”

(fast forward, Luluco is now a toddler(?), Keiji has chilled down)

Here, Keiji nonchalantly suggest that, “in this time and age”, Luluco should learn English, and goes on about some other stuff. Lalaco is taken aback.

L: Whaaat? Why are you talking normal stuff? You’re making her normal!

K: Of course I want to bring her up normally!

L: I don’t want Luluco to have a normal and boring life like I did!

K: Don’t talk nonsense! I don’t want Luluco to burn down her life by living insanely like I did!

L: Having no insanity in life is the same as being dead!!

She starts shooting around, Keiji yells at her to stop and threats to shoot too if she doesn’t. So he does.
Lalaco narrates that she attempted getting into space crimes to drive him crazy again. At one point, she shows up with the red hair she has in the series (she wasn’t born a redhead), which Keiji asks about, surprised. She says she attempted to shoplift [X] using her mother’s [X], got caught and killed by the Space Mafia, some guy in Hell offered her a seemingly stinky kanikama so she beat him up “so he would never stand in two legs again”, which got him begging her to please get out of Hell, so she had no choice but to come back to life and her hair became red.

K: What are you even saying?! You’ve gone friggin’ insane!

L: Quite so!

She laughs maniacally and starts shooting, to which Keiji responds. This is the scene we see as a flashback in the series. She kicks the door open.

K: Where are you going?!

L: I’m off to space to do that around.

K: “That”?!

L: Space pirating!

K: WHA? SPACE PIRATING?!- What’s that?! A huge red space pirate ship, you say?!

L: I’m going to live getting everything I want into my hands!

K: What’s with that half-nude getup!!!

L: This is what a space pirate is! FIRE CANNONS!

K: WEAR SOME CLOTHES! There’s a line even for insanity!

L: You can’t call yourself insane if you care about lines! I’ve already decided to live straight up insanely!! Luluco! You too, live insanely! Pull your trigger! From now on I’m space pirate, Lalaco Godspeed! Keiji, if you want to see me again, come try catching me!!!

Keiji swears out loud that he will. Lalaco narrates “And such, our ultimately insane relationship began. If he manages to someday catch me, then surely…” Laughs creepily and maniacally before shouting “TO BE CONTINUED!”

Fantastic, awesome, phenomenal news, in which deeply hidden lore that I've heard about but been unable to track down for years is finally found! Ever since I first discovered the Japanese Wikipedia page for the weapons & mecha of Gurren Lagann, there has been something that's always been mentioned but I've not been able to track down; the audio commentaries. Thus did they remain forever elusive, and in a state of 'the commentaries supposedly say as such' but unfortunately I've been not been able to affirm this. Until now. I am so very happy to finally be able to present to you the Gurren Lagann audio commentaries (or at least snippets thereof)!

First of all, please note that the transcribing and translating was done via machines, so anyone who can understand spoken Japanese who wishes to share their knowledge are more than welcome. Secondly, I'm using stillframes so that I can actually upload said clips and transform it enough to avoid copyright.

From The Lights in the Sky are Stars cast audio commentary (2009), featuring Kazuki Nakashima (the writer), Tetsuya Kakihara (Simon), Hiyama Nobuyuki (Viral) and Fukui Yukari (Nia).

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is around 100,000 lightyears tall (making it about the size of the Milky Way). However, this would mean that it would take it an incredibly long period of time to move, but in order to move faster than light, it doens't move faster than light; instead it connects the different universes which contain the different possibilities of said actions (for example, think of every different action in every different frame of a movie as being it's own universe; TTGL selects the possible outcome and connects/materializes the different universes).

The Archived version, just incase anything should happen to the above...
This is about one galaxy level. It must be pretty big. So one galaxy level is about three people from head to toe. 100,000 years at the speed of light. 100,000 light years. There's not much of that. So if you try to go from the bottom to the top, it's really difficult. It's really difficult. You can't go at all. They say it's moving at 2 kilometers per hour. That must be pretty big. That's the speed of light. So it's moving. It would take 100,000 years at the speed of light, so it's 1 in 100,000. Isn't it a super slow punch? Well, that's because the universe where the punch is being thrown and the universe in between are connected for an instant. That's why it looks like it's running at a high speed even though it's not the speed of light. It's the same principle as anime. 24 universes are selected per minute. In one second? That's not necessary. That's the explanation. That's it. Is that so? It'll be fine. Well, with this, they will finally be able to fight at the same size. When the Genoms returned here with a physical body after such a long time, everyone seemed to be surprised that they were that color. Even the staff were like, "Wow, they're that color?"
(Also as a footnote, this might just be the most galaxy-brained method of FTL travel I've ever seen.)

Next up, how galaxies get thrown around. This is where I believe the 'STTGL dwarves universes like they're snowflakes' comes from, except for the context, it's refering to Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and the Granzeboma. Nakashima says that throwing a galaxy is a wrong interpretation, and the Granzeboma is really throwing around universes. However, given the above reference to Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann being 100,000 lightyears tall, there's a possibility that these universes are only galaxy-sized; on the other hand, it's also noteworthy to check who actually said that Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is 100,000 lightyears tall (if it was Nakashima or someone else), as this may actually tie into the comment from Final Drill on TTGL being 10^25 bigger than Lagann, which IIRC would make it something like billions of lightyears tall).

This scene was amazing when I saw it on TV, but it was a little hard to understand on TV, it was too fast, and it was bouncing around. What does that mean? That's the wrong galaxy. That's bad. Imaichi-san said that this galaxy is wrong, but he said it's funny so it's okay, so it's like throwing a galaxy with a wrong interpretation. I see, I see. In other words, this galaxy is a universe that can fly, bounce, and be thrown, so if you think of it as a universe that can fly, bounce, and be thrown, it's fine. I see. But when Nakajima was in the Universe scenario and asked "What is that galactic shuriken?" he said that it would be fine if he just threw it, and now he's throwing it because it's about time to start. There's been a lot of weird stuff going on since way back. It's weird, isn't it? It's a weird perception. It's not wrong, so it's okay, okay, okay. I thought it would be rolled up, but it's funny that it's just the way it is. I guess it must have become hard after spinning at such high speed.
From The Lights in the Sky are Stars staff audio commentary (2009), featuring Kazuki Nakashima (the writer), Hiroyuki Imashi (the director), Masahiko Otsuka (assistant director), Sushiro (key animator), Atsushi Nishigoori (character designer) and Yoh Yoshinari (animator).

Brane cosmology is directly mentioned, with references to 'the branes of the Multiverse.'

I may have done something with the colours or something, but there are things like the brains of the multiverse.

Cast commentary of episode 26 (2007), featuring Kazuki Nakashima (the writer), Kakihara Tetsuya (Simon), Marina Inoue (Yoko), Katsuyuki Konishi (Kamina) and Itou Shizuka (Boota & Darry)

Confirmation that Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann targets the Ashtanga a muryutaisu number of times (the muryutausi, which often is associated with 10^68, is a number of great significance in Buddhism according to the friend I asked to check over these).

I think the drills are too much. But you're right, it's not very nice. It's not uncomfortable at all. Not at all. This lot is also a muryutaisuu. There is talk about whether it's enough to just say ‘immeasurable great number’. I didn't know what an immeasurable great number was. Too much, too much skin. Proton Proton This is a strategy to make your skin beautiful by exposing it to cosmic rays a lot, isn't it?

This is also directly mentioned in the manga.

There's more to go over too, but I've reached my upload limit of the day. Once again, if anyone reading this can understand spoken Japanese, please have a look over it yourself to see if it's all accurate. In the meantime that should give me lots of time to check out some other stuff to prepare uploading and finally sharing this with the world. Infact, should this prove a success (which I think it shall), I could also check out what secrets the other Trigger commentaries have to hold...

The booklet which comes with volume 9 of the Japanese edition of the Gurren Lagann DVDs, the Galactic Spiral Abyss is described as being infinite.

(Rough translation)
Before they have time to mourn the deaths of their fallen comrades, Super Galaxy Dai-Gurren is hit by a new attack from the Anti-Spiral. The universe turns into a dense ocean, sinking Super Galaxy Dai-Gurren into the depths of the abyss. As they struggle in the infinite hell, where their mass increases the more Spiral Power they exert, more enemy units surge from the surface and launch relentless attacks. At this rate, it's only a matter of time before they collapse, and even if they surface, they will be hit by a fierce enemy attack. Gimi and Darry are in despair at the situation they are in, and are unable to do anything. Kittan tells them that it's not that they aren't afraid of dying, but it's precisely because they're afraid that they move forward. Simon and the others then embark on a desperate plan that may seem reckless at first glance.
Although it would seem the Galactic Spiral Abyss has an edge (the surface) and a centre (the Death Spiral Machine), there is at least one other reference to the Galactic Spiral Abyss being its own space.

The Death Spiral Machine that creates this space

The introduction with the Gurren Lagann developers says that the Anti-Spiral fleet fills up the galaxy (I'm not sure if this is said by the devs themselves or the interviewer/writer of the article, but either way it's worth noting).
To protect the future of humanity and save their beloved Nia, Simon and his friends head for the Anti-Spiral's home planet. Blocking their path is an enemy fleet that fills the galaxy. There are countless of them!

I'm currently working through the Space Patrol Luluco audio dramas, which have some very interesting lore (though no boosts as far as I can tell). In the meantime...here's another Gurren Lagann commentary clip!

From the staff commentary of episode 26, featuring kazuki Nakashima (write), Hiroyuki Imaishi (director), Masahiko Otsuka (assistant director), Yoh Yoshinari (animator) and others.

Once again, it's confirmed that within each possibility there is a Simon, and our Simon merges all of these possibilities into a drill (or at the very least, each possibility that has a Simon in it).

Speaker 7: There are many different Simons, there are many possibilities in there, and they are all drilled together.
Speaker 1: I was wondering if you were doing this.
Speaker 7: Murasawa-kun asked me to make this as flashy as the combined bank. That's why, you know.
(Again, if anyone can understand spoken Japanese, please feel free to have a look)

According to Atsushi Nishigoori Strelizia True Apus stands 'several tens of kilometers tall.'
Franks rides in male-female pairs, and (Strelitzia's design) looks like a white kimono, so let's make Zero Two look like a bride at the end. Koyama and I talked about how we wanted to make their wedding, which they had vowed to do as children, happen in the most beautiful way, even though they were now robots with a total length of several tens of kilometres. So we decided to make her look like a wedding gown, and we decided that if we were going to do that, we might as well go for it, so not only her face but also her chest and arms were made to look physical. Strelitzia True Apas is a Zero Two with enough power to protect the earth. For Zero Two, I think that is a happy thing. He couldn't become a human being, but he became the ultimate weapon to open up the future of humanity. I wanted to show that in a happy way.
