To be fair, Kazama Kiryu and Majima does have some bullshit feats here and there for being "normal humans" all things considered.
Go watch Dead Fantasy and RWBY Volume 1 or 2 and see the difference between that and Volume 4+
Monty could absolutely do bullshit high feats for characters with his animations just fine and seemed to have been setting that up with the sole fight he did with Winter and Qrow before his death in Volume 3.
It's hilarious seeing Sorceress Rinoa in Dead Fantasy 3 vs. Salem in Volume 8 and how absolute shit Salem comes off in comparison to how Monty did a true Sorceress in the former.

Except we actually have integrity and only do this downgrade because let's be frank:
There's no way you can try and pretend Blake didn't get so downgraded from being able to handle herself against the Arc Villain fine(Roman Torchwick) to failing miserably against a basic Grimm for no reason(yeah sure, she tagged Adam once in Volume 5 but that was peak downplay for Adam and their final battle had her be helpless against the same person she oneshot a Volume ago and suddenly Yang became super tough against him despite effortlessly losing a limb... who was then instantly one shot in her Semblance form by Neo, a character that wasn't able to easily take down Yang in even worst conditions in a single attack.)
You see how much the rabbit hole goes down from and that's only from watching Reviews of the various seasons or episodes. Characters are literally only as strong as the plot demands now, let alone what their character even is at that moment.

Yes, we don't always go with Word of God in every case, HOWEVER, we DO go with Word of God if the scene in question is meant to be their actual intent without any contradictions(i.e. If the characters are meant to be lightspeed and the story dictates it as such, then they are Lightspeed, no questions asked). This is the same reason people mocked CW's The Flash when it came to acting like Barry Allen is still stuck in Mach 2-3 and yet can literally go back in time which would basically need him to be FTL in the first place, THAT'S a contradiction and would mean Barry is FTL, not Mach 2-3 like the show states.
And again, you can actually apply this to every other show in fiction because again, none of them properly show the levels of damage or otherwise he's trying to use here(like in Bleach, you can literally say no one is higher than City level by what we are SHOWN by that logic... but we know that they will ignore that hard).
