Street Fighter: discussion, feats, and analysis

If they reveal that Akuma's Sgs is locked behind a different mechanic again then I swear to God man I'll find a Capcom employee on the street :watchit.

Akuma letting Ryu get his just desserts for lying about how their fight went to the Avatar was funny though:lit. Let that fraud bum know what really went down :jordangif.

I'm not even going to mince words here. I think Akuma's sf6 theme is trash. My nigga hasn't gotten a good theme since sf4. And that was just a reminder of his Alpha theme :catcry . Why does Capcom do this to me :catcry:wow?

Alright.....now that I have some actual time to myself....some commentary.

Ryu is making strides but still seems out of Akuma's league. This checks out since we know that Ryu considers Gouken to be far above him by his own Master commentary in World Tour:

@6:20
"My master went by the name of Gouken. He was quite old, but a far more accomplished fighter than I am."

We can still see that Akuma is holding back in his battles during the gameplay. SiRN Akuma is a battle with a copy created by the technological powerhouse in World Tour mode (same company that created the laser drones, gives me Shinra vibes). Their approximation of Shin Akuma is a boss battle that has access to double air fireball, misogi, and kkz.

You can access this form in regular battle by doing an extended taunt.

Akuma's mentality is confirmed to be about "chasing death". Whereas, because of Ryu and the OC, he actively respects the path now of "laughing in the face of death" because of their progression. He acknowledges that their path might be another way to achieve true power but his own path is set in stone. He is far too deep in the Satsui no Hado to turn back now.

We see acknowledgement of those that Akuma considers his rivals in the final artwork for his World Tour journey:

Gotetsu (dead), Gen (probably dead), Ryu, Gouken, and Oro.

This whole "Giant Attack" mode gives me hope that some of the other bosses are coming as playable characters.

Coupled with Nakayama saying that their will be some unexpected characters for season 2:

"Of course, I can't make any specific comments yet, but I think you will find there to be some unexpected characters." — Takayuki Nakayama

Well, you can color me excited.

Gill and G are my "fingers crossed" picks.

yeah one really cool thing about sfv was it was the first time every major villain was playable. I REALLY hope that continues through sf6, though Bison should be saved for much later ino given he’s supposed to be mostly out of commission

would be really happy if G showed up this season, and as he was one of V’s quirkiest character designs, I’m excited to see how 6’s improved art direction would handle him. So far all the character redesigns have felt like fantastic evolutions of the core looks.

Akuma’s a great example of what I mean.
Feels like they took what sfv was going for, that wasn’t super well received, and instead of backing down from that just pushed it further and further until it worked more.

Ima need Urien in this though. I can’t live without him

If they bring back R.Mika, I'm back in the saddle
provided they don't censor her more.

Now if only they could take Akuma's theme and actually bother to make that well received for once :catcry . Maybe then I'll forgive Capcom for their sins:catcry.

it was alright, not nearly as bad as the sfv theme at least. V gotta have the most hit or miss soundtrack I’ve ever heard in these games. Bangers or complete ass with no in-between
