I think lying about an action is very tricky territory as town and deserves critique if, as he did here, completely botched it, as once you're caught in a lie there's no way out, regardless of the fact that he was cornered it's not something he should have done.

I mean, he was already in a rough spot even without that. From his pov Nibel was confirmed scum. The only issue was he acted like the item made him sure and not the fact that he literally didn't have a killing ability, so a Town Nibel would have never gotten that result.
Also from his pov the game was solved. Scum Gram and scum Flower don't derail from a Town Fang wagon onto a scum Magic wagon. And solving with that in mind isn't hard from a Town Fang pov.
But well, he was pissed and shit happens. So whatever.
He made up a lie which everyone instantly caught onto and that solidified him as never getting out of this game without being lynched. Hard to really justify that.

I deserve flack for voting him at the end there but I couldn't pair him with anyone left except possibly Bachi? Xeno V Aurel felt real. His appeal to Gad felt real. His push on Nibel felt real. It was just like.. "God damn this dude is gonna die anyway so I need to find a reason he might be scum."

I don't think he was in a winnable position regardless. Scum faked info on him when he already looked like a prime suspect and the accuser was barely sussed.
Eh there was nothing wrong with voting for him under those circumstances. Before whatever bullshit he made up, his play was, from a meta standpoint, very much town and so even though he was positionally horrid (think at one point he had the entire scum team in the top of his list), what he did was basically a throw
Fair, but that wouldn't be on him if the game had proceeded and he tried his best. It is now definitively on him lol
And I'm not justifying that. The outcome would have just been the same. It's like comparing standing in heavy rain with a broken umbrella to standing in heavy rain with no umbrella. The rain gets you in any case.
So yeah, I'm not gonna bash him for it.
