Circus of Humorous & Humiliating Arguments Part 1: OBD 2027 prologue edition

I like how this guy explains the key issue with HP's Magic System and yet now we are supposed to pretend Fantastical Beasts fixed it when it did no such thing at all. It's still the absurd mess it is and these examples very much explain where the problems really are.

But this is the same thread where you have someone trying so hard to get Planetary Fiendfyre through because "muh NLF".

Irradiance

Slightly Above Average
Not debating the point, but just to put the right numbers out here: The speed of explosions decays extremely fast with distance.
The shockwave of 50kg of C4 would, for example, travel the 1st meter from the origin in 0.1ms and at that point the shockwave would already have slowed to 3522.83 m/s. (source)
In practice explosion dodging feats are often less impressive than a look at the detonation velocity would suggest.

The explosion was pointblank

That's actually Darthgrim on NF

That may be true(Even if we ignore she is literally next to the Truck that has the Car Bomb), but we would just go into Shiki and plenty of other high tier Nasuverse Humans being able to react to Lightning Magecraft which literally recreates the phenomenon and treat it as a nuisance as well as a good number reacting to halfassing Servants.

That or Hansa being able to dust a huge ass rock literally with Black Keys:

So either way, they got plenty more nonsense for themselves.

Okay, that's even funnier lol.

Now I want to see SB try to come up with ways for Voldemort to not immediately get hit by Scry and Die tactics lmao

They'll default to the "He can't die till you destroy all of his Hocruxes" nonsense despite him... dying... despite the Hocruxes and needing new bodies to even do anything at all(and being completely helpless to the point of needing Ratfoot or whoever to do anything for him).

That's also how you could have fixed the story.

Subvert the prophecy by having him die at the beginning of the first book, and have him replaced by some random violent street urchin and career criminal. Who finally gets a taste of a normal life thanks to the wizarding world and being mistaken for Harry Potter.

Due to his history of doing anything to survive he is a practiced liar and goes along with the ruse for his own benefit. Kinda like Gilderoy Lockhart. The difference being that he is actually competent unlike Gilderoy Lockhart. Ruthless, brutal, and underhanded; he does anything to win.

He starts off as a bastard but becomes friends with the rest of the trio despite being sorted into Slytherin for obvious reasons. This softens him up, and he actually starts to care about other people. However, this never changes him completely. He is still a bastard, but a bastard who cares about his pals.

Whole time he is playing Russian roulette because Dumbledore suspects him, and he has to tread lightly around him. Unlike the real Harry Potter? He actually ends up on good terms with Snape. Since before becoming a wizard he used to dabble in poison.

Doesn't care about changing the world, but does so anyway, mostly to help out people that mean something to him. Dobby for example. Ends up annulling the whole chattel slave business by poisoning and murdering everyone in favor of it. Using his identity as "Harry Potter" to get close enough to them.

Only people who know who he is really are Hermione and Ronald.

And to balance everything out he sucks at magic, but excels at potions. Being something of a specialist who knows every kind of potion in the book.

Don't worry, IB ignored Wescott's Quasi immortality, which is quite similar to Horcrux. And then the main weapon of HP will disappear. Touma solo HP.

Yeah they might do that at first until you start listing all the broken-ass spells that basic spellcasters have, meaning that even if you wanted to argue that there are still dozens of ways for a fodder spellcaster to wreck Voldemort's shit even while adhering to that rule. Which goes to show just how top tier wizards in HP aren't shit to D&D spellcasters. Which is funny, because the gap between spellcasters and non-spellcasters in D&D itself is so wide that it actually makes for a rare interactive medium showing how most of the time hax > general power.

You are expecting that SB has the common sense to recognize that major difference though?

Again, these are the people who honestly believe they know better of series like The Monsterverse, The Nasuverse, Star Wars, etc, etc.
